UK Horse Racing Tips: Kilbeggan

The mare MUSIC OF TARA appeals here getting weight off the geldings. She has shown promise in three runs in strong enough maiden hurdles since winning a point-to-point and should be up to landing a summer contest like this. The Kayf Tara mare bumped into a useful sort in Naughtinesse when last seen at Tipperary in May and this looks an easier task. Pats Choice has been knocking on the door and is entitled to be thereabouts again. He is tried in blinkers now after chasing home Quel Reve on his last visit here. Rodney Bay has a mark of 110 and is another that has to be on the short-list. He was also runner-up last time, behind Benny The Duke at Ballinrobe.

FRONTLINE WORKER may be worth another shot here. The Presenting mare was beaten favourite on her last outing at Downpatrick in June when she was a touch too keen in the early stages. She eventually faded to finish fourth but that was a decent little heat and the race has worked out well with the winner and second franking the form since. It's noteworthy to see Frontline Worker fitted with a tongue-tie now. Rotten Row aims for a hat-trick but dropping back to two miles would be a slight concern as he came from behind to lead at the last when scoring over three furlongs further here last time. Ballybaun Star appeared to be moving into contention when falling last time at Ballinrobe and might not be badly treated off a mark of 115 for his handicap debut.

The 122-rated CARRAREA should be good enough to open his account over timber here. Emmet Mullins' charge was mid-division in a Flat maiden at Tramore on his return to action last month and that should have left him spot on for this. He was last seen over hurdles at the Dublin Racing Festival at Leopardstown in February, when sixth in a valuable handicap hurdle, and this is a much easier task. High City Roller was just edged out by Bold Approach at Wexford last month and is up to winning a summer maiden. He's probably unfortunate to come across a rival of this calibre here. Country Queen was running a nice race when falling at Galway and looks one for a place.

The in-form mare MENINDEE may be able to strike again here. The daughter of Yeats gained a deserved win at Ballinrobe 11 days ago after a couple of good placed efforts. She showed good reserves of stamina then having been headed after a mistake two from home and also slightly hampered on the rail soon after. She stuck to her guns well to reclaim the lead on the run-in and going up to three miles now could bring further improvement. She was just behind Gibbet Hill when third at Downpatrick and now has to give her 5lb more. That rival made a bold bid from the front over two-miles-six then and was just collared late on. It was a big step up on previous form and going further now would be a slight concern as he point-to-point form was poor enough. Lonesome Day hasn't been far away in a couple of maiden hurdles this summer and is one to note on her handicap debut.

MIGHTY MEGGSIE looks up to winning a race of this standard. The Jessica Harrington-trained mare ran a cracker when pushing Mind Your Money to half a length at Tipperary last time and a similar effort may be enough to get her head in front now. That was her third outing over fences, and her third runner-up effort, having bumped into a couple of smart types previously. Tom McGreevy was running a decent race on his chase debut at Tramore until falling two from home and may have been in the places then. If that hasn't left a mark he could be a big player here. Peckham Springs just squeezes in here off his hurdles mark of 116 and is one to note on his chase debut.

A mark of 116 looks stiff enough based on his win last time but WE'LLHAVEWAN could be open to plenty more improvement for Willie Mullins. The Imperial Monarch gelding won on his first outing for the champion trainer at Tipperary when getting back up late on to beat Wild Caprice by a head on his chase debut. He was slow over the second last and should have benefitted from that outing as well. He had won twice over hurdles for previous connections in the spring and looks like a horse on an upward curve. Arrycan was a good winner here last month and off a 6lb higher mark he has to come into calculations again. The second and third from that race, Na Caith Tobac and Jack Hackett, are others to consider.

A competitive bumper for the track and MOONOVERCLOON gets the vote. The Matthew Smith-trained gelding has run well on his last couple of outings and looks up to getting his head in front now. The Sea Moon gelding was a decent fourth at Galway before pushing Moon Rise Beauty close at Downpatrick, and was a touch unlucky last time having been hampered close home. He can confirm that form with Nottodaybobo, who was third behind him then. Grivei was a bit disappointing when fifth at Sligo last time but is fitted with a hood, after running freely then, and could be a big danger now. He ran a big race on his debut at Fairyhouse back in January when second. Memories Never Die is another who has been knocking on the door and could get involved for prize money again.
