Following a 4/1 winner yesterday, Steve Ryder is back with four tips for today's action.
14:05 Kempton
Dubai Honour looks a short price for the September Stakes given he has never ran on the AW and is only 4lbs clear of MOSTAHDAF (best priced at 11/2) on weight adjusted ratings. John Gosden has won this race three out of the last four years and hopefully Mostahdaf can make it 3/3 on the AW in this race.
The four-year-old won the Gordon Richard Stakes on his reappearance before placing behind Bay Bridge in The Brigadier Gerard Stakes and Broome in the Hardwicke Stakes. He was really disappointing at Newmarket last time but this doesn’t look a strong Group 3 and that effort is worth forgiving.
14:16 Thirsk
The William Haggas trained MYSTIC PEARL (best priced at 5/2) has run well in two stronger maidens and she should prove hard to beat up in trip against the boys. The daughter of Invincible Spirit finished a close 6th on her debut at Newmarket before finishing 4th behind Zouky at Newbury last month and the winner boosted the form yesterday with a win at Haydock under a penalty.
Mystic Pearl has looked outpaced over 6f on both of her starts to date before staying on well at the finish and she should now appreciate this step up to 7f. She gets 5lbs from the colts in this race and I expect her to prove hard to beat.
15:10 Ascot
This looks a fiercely competitive 7f handicap at Ascot but preference goes to INVER PARK (best priced at 6/1) who is 2/2 at this course in his career. The George Boughey trained four-year-old has improved since joining this yard at the start of this season having been gelded over the winter resulting in form figures of 231118. He won at Windsor and Hamilton before winning the Buckingham Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot on his penultimate start.
The handicapper raised Inver Park 4lbs for that victory up to a mark of 98 and his latest 8th placed finish at Goodwood can be excused as he was drawn on wrong side of the track over the 6f trip. He is off the same the same mark in this race and back at Ascot over 7f and he should be involved in the finish with up to six places available.
20:00 Wolverhampton
ALDABRA (best priced at 4/1) looks like a stereotypical Sir Mark Prescott improver on handicap debut as she now steps up in trip from 7f up to 1m4f. The well bred three-year-old was sent off 40/1, 66/1 and 200/1 for her first three career starts with handicaps in mind and she now returns after 310 days off the track.
Connections not only step her up in trip from 7f to 1m4f but also fit her with first time blinkers in this race. A much improved effort is expected and it wouldn’t be surprising for her to prove much better than an opening mark of 55.
