Lion Of War drops in grade, although he was behind Dark Thirty in the Superlative, and Seeking Gold could be the main danger.

Runner-up on his last three starts, one-time Derby hope Reach For The Moon now sports a first-time visor in an attempt to bounce back to winning ways. However, preference is for his Champagne Stakes conqueror BAYSIDE BOY, who had to settle for fourth on his most recent run in a Group 3 at Glorious Goodwood. He has more than held his own in Group 1s, though, and the application of blinkers could help him get back on track. Royal Hunt Cup hero Dark Shift also merits consideration up in grade.

A case can be made for plenty of these, but INVERNESS finished a fine fourth in the Melrose at York. Charlie Hills' colt was beaten a neck by Adjuvant for third, but was rated 1lb higher than him on that occasion. They now compete off the same rating so the form could be turned around, despite Benoit De La Sayette taking 3lb off Adjuvant. Open Champion is very unexposed and must be feared, along with Tamilla on her return to turf.

SOULCOMBE is beginning to fulfil the potential that his pedigree offers, being by Frankel out of a Group 1-winning mare, and he relished the step up to 1m6f when running out a facile winner of the Melrose at York. The handicapper reacted accordingly, putting him up a stone, but the manner of victory suggests he could still have a fair amount to come, especially over staying trips. Rajinsky has placed in the Chester Cup and Northumberland Plate on his last couple of starts, which merits him a place on the shortlist. Contact, a winner at the track in May, and Euchen Glen both appear to have live chances too.

David Evans' four-year-old can be forgiven his latest effort when never in contention behind Kinross over 7f at York but his finishing effort the time before, when perhaps a shade unlucky in France, gives him every chance of landing his first success at the highest level.

Alligator Alley cashed in on a sliding handicap figure at Thirsk on his latest outing and he remains of interest up 7lb. Others to note include Nomadic Empire and Korker.

Archie Watson's charge drops in class after his second in a 0-90 at Ascot and is fancied to regain the winning thread. Gina Mangan's 5lb claim ought to aid the chances of last year's winner Sucellus, while handicap debutant Monteria wasn't far behind the selection at Wolverhampton in the spring. La Trinidad is 2lb below his last winning mark and shouldn't be underestimated either.
