UK Horse Racing Tips: Kempton

TEA GARDEN was a shock winner at Southwell last month on her handicap debut and is fancied to back that up here with this extra furlong likely to suit. Mick Appleby applies a first-time visor to previous course winner Dewey Road, who has been dropped 3lb for his lacklustre effort at Wolverhampton when last seen. Broughtons Flare was a shade unlucky when not enjoying the clearest of passages at Windsor last time and is another to note.

MICHAELS CHOICE returns to the all-weather for the first time since November having been kept busy throughout the summer winning twice at Salisbury and more recently finishing fifth at Brighton. He looks to be back on a winnable mark. Mostallim was a respectable second behind Rocket Red at Newcastle last month and should give another good account of himself. Previous C&D winner Thaki wasn't disgraced in a better race last time and is also of interest.

William Haggas won this race with Hamish last year and looks to have strong claims again with DUBAI HONOUR. The four-year-old gelding was last seen finishing fourth behind the brilliant Baaeed in the Juddmonte and there is nothing of that quality in here. Mostahdaf is two from two on the all-weather and looks to have been freshened up since his disappointing effort behind Yibir at Newmarket in July. Gear Up won a shade cosily in Group 3 company last time and is entitled to be in the mix.

Cabinet Maker has to be of some interest after getting up to win by a neck over C&D last month despite being hampered by a faller. He could go well, but three-year-olds do not have a good recent record in this race so preference is for UZINCSO, who has six C&D successes to his name and was a good second at Newmarket in July. First View is another to consider in first-time cheekpieces.

The Charlton stable are not renowned for debut winners so the four-length success of Flag Flying at Goodwood caught the eye, and there may be more to come from the son of Starspangledbanner. MISCHIEF MAGIC could prove tough to beat after romping home at Newmarket last month and, as the son of Exceed And Excel holds a Group 1 entry in the Autumn, he is clearly held in high regard. Minnetonka and Kyeema are others of interest.

New Endeavour may prove popular after his Newcastle second last month, but he failed to see out the seventh furlong that day and may suffer the same fate now. LUDO'S LANDING is the only distance winner in this field after he battled on bravely to win at Carlisle and, if he shows the same resolution here, an added 3lb from the handicapper may not be enough to stop him. Sunny Orange drops in class for his second start since being gelded and is another to note.

Gulmarg has been raised just 1lb for his head second over 7f at Sandown last time and it is likely he will give his running, but preference is for VENETIAN. Charlie and Mark Johnston's two-year-old was very strong at the line when scoring over the extended mile at Hamilton when last seen and there could be more to come. Manifested heads the remainder.

ESSME was staying on powerfully over the extended mile at Windsor on her previous outing and a repeat of that second-placed effort would see her take the beating in this contest. Better can be expected from Wonderful Thing, who uncharacteristically disappointed last time at Chepstow, but, dropped 1lb, he may bounce back to form. My Bonnie Lassie will be hoping to go one better than her Lingfield second.
