SPIRIT OF APPLAUSE sets the form standard after finishing second at York and Beverley, and this appears to be a suitable opportunity for Tim Easterby's gelding to get off the mark. Electric Eyes, a newcomer for Karl Burke, and Get Stuck In, a half-brother to Group 3 winner Patrick Sarsfield, are others worthy of consideration.

GLOBAL SPIRIT can be forgiven his Newcastle effort after blowing his chance at the start and if he's more alert, he should make a bold bid. Roger Fell's representative has been in decent form of late and this looks within his grasp. Reputation is likely to be one of the closest pursuers after running up a sequence of minor placings, most recently over the extended 7f at Beverley, and he has been given a chance by the handicapper. Merricourt completes the shortlist.

CULCOR progressed nicely with racing in Ireland and might take all the beating on his first run for Kevin Ryan. He was successful in a Gowran Park maiden over 7f back in June on his final appearance for Ger Lyons, and he has been gelded ahead of this UK debut. Positive Impact arrives in good form after a narrow defeat at Chester so he commands respect, while Leuven Power is another to note.

SEA TSARINA won more cosily than the three-quarter-length distance suggested over a mile at Lingfield, and she may be up to this opening mark of 87. Flora Finch is also making her first handicap start, off a figure of 82, which seems fair after a stylish Wolverhampton success, although that came back in October. No Nay Nicki has been knocking on the door of late and it shouldn't be too long before she is let in.

The ultra-consistent MOLINARI was just touched off when bidding for a hat-trick at Carlisle last month and although he's been raised 2lb for that effort, this additional furlong is sure to suit and he gets the vote. Wor Willie has won his last two at Pontefract in impressive fashion and this appears his optimum trip, while Eklil was third at Windsor on Thursday and has claims if turning out again.

Although TAZAMAN was a beaten favourite when runner-up over this trip at Ripon, he remains in fine form and is still weighted to go in again in a race such as this before the season is out. Indianapolis has been hard to win with over the years but ran his best race for some time when second at Ffos Las recently. C&D winner Marbuzet can't be discounted either.
