The Bryan Smart trained COTAI PEARL (best priced at 4/1) has run well over 5f on her first three starts and she is interesting now stepped up in trip to 6f on her handicap debut. The daughter of Cotai Glory finished 2nd on her debut at Musselburgh before finishing well behind subsequent listed winner Maria Branwell. She bounced back from that effort to finish 2nd at Beverley last time following an 89 day break and she now makes her handicap debut off a mark of 73.

Cotai Pearl stayed on well late on over 5f last time shaping like this step up in trip to 6f on her handicap debut would suit and I expect her to run well with regular rider Graham Lee on board.

NURSECLAIRE (best priced at 12/1) showed good form as a two-year-old for Richard Fahey and although she hasn’t run up to that level so far this season for Alice Haynes, this return to the mile trip should suit. The three-year-old finished 2nd by a length at Leicester on her penultimate start which was over a mile before finishing an eyecatching 6th last time at Doncaster.

Barry McHugh held up Nurseclaire in last following a tardy start and gave her too much to do over the 7f strip before staying on to finish only three lengths behind the winner. The handicapper has dropped her 1lb down to a career low mark of 70 and I expect her to run well with the recently retired Megan Nicholls taking the ride and up to five places available.
