Jim Boyle pulled Going Gone out at Haydock last Saturday on ground concerns and, with conditions likely to suit here, he merits respect.

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained NOSTRUM went into many notebooks when quickening up in impressive fashion to win at Sandown on debut in July. The unexposed son of Kingman could take this before heading into Group company later in the season. Charlie Appleby won this race with Noble Truth last year and relies on Desert Order this time around. He won the Convivial at York when last seen and looks the biggest threat to the selection. Zu Run got off the mark in comfortable style at Chelmsford but is sure find this much tougher.

It's very hard to get away from THE PLATINUM QUEEN, who ran such a fine race in defeat behind Highfield Princess in the Group 1 Nunthorpe three weeks ago. Granted she was receiving plenty of weight on that occasion, but now down in class and back against her own age group she's entitled to take all the beating. Trillium was an impressive winner of the Molecomb when last seen and appears to have been kept fresh since with this race in mind. Crispy Cat has been kept busy this season and should give another good account of himself here.

With conditions set to suit, it would be unwise to oppose TRUESHAN this afternoon. Alan King's gelding is rated 11lb clear of his nearest rival Coltrane, who looks best equipped to take advantage if the selection fails to fire. Get Shirty has been progressive in handicaps this season and could reward each-way players, while Reshoun was far from disgraced behind an impressive winner in the Lonsdale Cup last month.

The son of Invincible Spirit was raised 7lb for that success but Frederick Larson takes off a handy 5lb, and that could make all the difference in an open event. Mums Tipple looks more than capable of producing another bold bid, having been narrowly denied at Ascot last Saturday. Others to note are Able Kane and Shine So Bright.

GLENFINNAN found only one too strong in an above-average York maiden last month, in what represented a marked step forward on his debut effort. He'll prove tough to beat if replicating that performance and he's expected to strike, possibly at the chief expense of In These Shoes, who finished a good second at Carlisle first time out. Uncle is a newcomer who is worth monitoring in the market.

Zaman Jemil recorded his best run to date when scoring impressively over 6f at Newcastle last month and he remains of interest back on turf. However, preference is for REWARD SMILE, who makes his nursery debut having just been denied at Carlisle last month. Given he lost a shoe on that occasion, there could well be more in his locker and he should not be taken lightly. Princeville is another to note for powerful connections.
