In a race that might not take a great deal of winning ZEBRA STAR might be worth chancing on nursery debut. She was slowly away on her first outing at a racecourse and clearly looked to need the experience when fifth at Lingfield. She quickly left that behind to chase home a nice prospect in Wahaaj over C&D in July and that form has worked out fairly well since. Back at Lingfield last time she was slow into stride again and never figured. Back at this track off an opening mark of just 61 I’ll be surprised if she doesn’t get seriously competitive with Buick booked for the ride. Beechwood Mick beat Duchray 2 lengths at Newmarket last month and has to be respected but an opening mark of 69 is certainly no given up against this field. Duchray has been dropped 4lb since that defeat but still doesn’t look to have anything in hand.

Another really competitive nursery but HELLO DEIRA looks worth chancing for Owen Burrows. This Expert Eye colt missed by just a head on debut at Salisbury and that race has thrown up a couple of winners since with the third Batal Dubai and even the fifth Zu Run going in next time. He was turned over at short odds next time out but didn’t do a lot wrong and the winner Heroism looks a nice colt for Clive Cox. The sixth Jax Edge in that race won her next start at Chepstow so the form certainly has substance and will likely continue to work out. He didn’t enjoy the clearest of runs through when only fourth at Ascot last time and was nearest finish. An opening mark of 80 looks to underestimate him and given he holds a Dewhurst entry he will want to be winning this. Prince Nabeel and What A Dude look to be the main dangers and probably in that order.
