MORTLACH returns to hurdles on the back of a chase victory at Newton Abbot last month and having run out a comfortable maiden winner on his last start over timber in April, he could be capable of successfully giving weight all round in this novice contest. Dame De Fortune, a winner of an Irish point-to-point before joining her current yard and going on to win a mares' maiden hurdle at Worcester last month, rates best of the rest, while Longstone Cowboy was a bit keen at Hexham last week but the quick reappearance is taken as a significant hint that all is going well in his learning process. Prediction : 1st Mortlach 2nd Dame De Fortune 3rd Longstone Cowboy

The hat-trick chasing Solo Saxophone is useful under both codes of racing and is consistent enough to make his presence know once more. Diane Sayer, who was responsible for the winner of this race last year, has a couple of likely types in the shape of the top-weight Dallas Des Pictons, who debuts for the yard after making nearly all en route to winning his final start in Ireland for Gordon Elliott, and The Navigator, who shouldn't be underestimated despite being 1lb wrong at the weights. However, preference goes to the in-form CAIUS MARCIUS, who registered a victory over 3m at Perth when last seen in July and is equally effective over this shorter trip. Sean Quinlan has done well when riding for the yard lately which is a further bonus for the selection. Prediction : 1st Caius Marcius 2nd Solo Saxophone 3rd Dallas Des Pictons

RAECIUS FELIX won the 2020 renewal of this race and is still attractively weighted despite a 5lb rise in the handicap after registering his third career win with a smooth effort over this trip at Sedgefield at the start of this month. The danger could be Cardboard Gangster, who takes a slight drop in trip after a lacklustre run last time out and he's better than he showed that day. Exit To Where could win the battle for third place.Prediction : 1st Raecius Felix 2nd Cardboard Gangster 3rd Exit To Where

Nastasiya has improved with each start since joining Rebecca Menzies' stable and she warrants respect, while Genever Dragon has been running well in both codes and must enter calculations as well. The vote, however, goes to CALLIOPE. She brings winning C&D form to the table and dropping back in trip is likely to suit after not quite getting home over 2m6f at Cartmel last time. Prediction : 1st Calliope 2nd Nastasiya 3rd Genever Dragon

Although it's a slight concern that he's racing away from his beloved Cartmel, TICO TIMES was impressive when winning over a similar trip at that venue last time and he makes most appeal of bottom-weight today. If Not For Dylan also arrives in winning form, but that success came over 3m and this could be a sharp enough test for him. Feared most is Gold Des Bois, who was last seen finishing third in Listed company at Ayr 165 days ago. Prediction : 1st Tico Times 2nd Gold Des Bois 3rd If Not For Dylan

Spark Of Madness made a winning debut over fences at Perth in May and there should be plenty more to come from him, but GETAMAN shades the verdict. He posted a number of solid efforts over 2m/2m1f before failing to see out 2m5f at Newton Abbot last time and this drop in distance could see him bounce back to form. A big run from Tico Times in the previous race would boost the claims of Living's Boy An Co, who chased home that rival at Cartmel recently. Prediction : 1st Getaman 2nd Spark Of Madness 3rd Livings Boy An Co

LADY STANWIX ran out an impressive winner on her stable debut for Justin Landy at Market Rasen in July and she is fancied to follow up under a penalty. A Fergal O'Brien inmate chased her home that day and it could be the same here, with Blue Clover respected on debut. Moonshine Molly could only manage fifth when well backed on her introduction at Southwell in April but she could improve on that effort here. Prediction : 1st Lady Stanwix 2nd Blue Clover 3rd Moonshine Molly
