Three-year-olds have a good record in this race with the younger generation winning six out of the last seven renewals of the race. BAYSIDE BOY (best priced at 11/8) is the only three-year-old in the race this year and he is also top rated with an official mark of 110. The Roger Varian trained colt won the Group 2 Champagne Stakes last year but has so far struggled in better company so far this season.

Bayside Boy now drops down in class to a listed race, is fitted with first time blinkers and also gets the assistance of William Buick for the first time. He receives weight from the likes of Escobar, Sinjaari and Magical Morning and I expect him to prove hard to beat.

Bayside Boy - 1pt @ 11/8

The Ruth Carr trained RHYTHM (best priced at 14/1) won a novice race over this course and distance when trained by Richard Hannon and she comes into this race following a couple of good recent efforts. The four-year-old has dropped from a mark of 77 to 64 so far this season but has also finished 3rd twice already this year off marks of 70 and 69.

Connections now fit Rhythm with first time cheekpieces in this race which should make the job of Tom Eaves a bit easier and she should run well back at Beverley with four places widely available.

Rhythm - 0.5pts e/w @ 14/1

The Joe Parr stable are having a quiet spell currently but I do feel LETHAL TOUCH (best priced at 15/2) is overpriced following her close defeat at Chelmsford last time. The three-year-old won on her return form a 96 day break at Nottingham earlier this season before finishing in the places at Chepstow, Newmarket and Chelmsford.

Lethal Touch only finished 2nd by a neck last time behind handicap debutant Miss Bluebelle and the pair pulled 5 ½ lengths clear of the third. The handicapper has raised Lethal Touch 3lbs for that effort which is fair and I expect her to run well with up to five places available.
