Chuzzlewit drops significantly in grade and seems a big threat, while Youm Saeed boasts an appealing pedigree and would be foolish to rule out.

York's Convivial maiden tends to throw up some promising sorts and HI ROYAL could be in that mould, having outrun his odds to finish a highly-encouraging third on debut. Kevin Ryan's charge looks all but guaranteed to relish the step up in trip and he can see off Reidh, who was similarly eye-catching on his racecourse bow at Thirsk. A stablemate of the selection, Cynical is not to be underestimated either, while Power Of Gold looks the pick of the newcomers.

Fresh from Group 1 success aboard Highfield Princess, Jason Hart appears to hold a big chance with Paul Midgley's LATIN FIVE. The five-year-old had been in good form prior to a below-par effort at Carlisle last month, but the likely strong pace should suit the son of Camacho and, in an open event, he receives a tentative vote. Never Dark was narrowly denied at Doncaster earlier this month and he looks likely to be in the thick of things, along with Burj Malinka. Others to note are Tanasoq, Sixcor and Ustath.

First Impression is rated 4lb lower than when winning this race in 2020 and he warrants respect, as does last year's scorer Chichester, who is 6lb higher this time around. What's The Story readily won a small-field C&D handicap last time and he merits consideration, while the dropped-in-trip Tilsitt cannot be ruled out either. However, AL MUBHIR is the least exposed of these and could prove tough to beat lining up off the same mark as when runner-up on his handicap debut at Goodwood.

The eye is immediately drawn to the two unexposed fillies in this handicap and REMEMBERING edges the vote ahead of Misty Dancer. William Haggas' charge is open to any amount of improvement now going handicapping for the first time in a first-time hood, and, although she's got more on her plate than when winning a Catterick novice latest, she might be able to get the early lead and gallop them into submission. Misty Dancer won a Goodwood maiden well and joins Golden Melody on the shortlist.

Tommy G goes well around here and must be respected along with Asdaa and Cassy O.

SHIMMERING SANDS recorded a comfortable win on his most recent run over 1m 2f last month and a drop in trip may not be enough to stop him from going in again. He seems to have been fairly progressive this season and can make his presence felt. The class-dropping A Boy Named Ivy looks his biggest threat, while Eshtora remains unexposed and open to improvement following a disappointing run at Sandown in June.

Timbukone's seconds at Musselburgh and here are evidence that he shouldn't remain a maiden for too much longer, but a safer option is MONHAMMER. The Linda Perratt-trained four-year-old has twice gone close at Carlisle since breaking through at Musselburgh, and he remains on a nice rating. Rum Going On has been a tad expensive to follow but will pop up again sooner or later, while Global Humor's Ayr record earns him a mention.
