Assuming AMASOVA is allowed to take his chance after his close second at Yarmouth on Tuesday, the reliable four-year-old is a solid option in a race where a lack of consistency has been the downfall of most. The selection is yet to win over this trip but wasn't beaten far the last time he raced over C&D and that form has been boosted since. Sir Rodneyredblood is a player at this level and is a further suggestion for consideration, while Manettino is closely matched with the last-named judging by their encounter at Kempton last month. He has the ability to go close if he handles the track on what will be his first run at Chelmsford. On Reflection, who debuts in handicap on a fairly competitive mark, and Reckon I'm Hot are others to monitor in the betting market.

CHARTWELL HOUSE is the obvious starting point as he sets a decent standard on what he's achieved so far. The William Knight-trained colt managed to justify favouritism in a decent looking maiden at Epsom last month, in spite of not handling the course too well that day, and it's to his credit that he stuck to the task for a hard-fought win. Those with experience don't appear to be anything out of the ordinary but there is likely to be more to come from Ghassan and he's one to bear in mind. However, well-bred newcomers He's A Monster, a 160,000-pound purchase, and Opera Legend, whose pedigree suggests he'll handle the surface, both run for highly-respected yards and merit a betting check at least.

This is a big drop in class for WOOLHAMPTON, who filled the runner-up berth in the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury in July, and she can make good use of the fillies' allowance to finally get off the mark. The winner had already flown by the time Appointed One got into a rhythm on his racecourse debut here in July but it was still an encouraging effort from the Godolphin-owned colt. He does have a bit to prove now dropping back to the minimum trip, though. Radio Goo Goo showed good speed at Southwell last month and it's noteworthy that Owen Lewis keeps the ride on David Evans' filly. His 7lb claim could be a big factor in the scrap for the place money. Harry Brown has also been consistent enough to also merit a betting check at least.

It could pay to concentrate on last-time-out winners LUMACHO and Senor Pockets, with preference for the former. The son of Comacho drew clear with the second when scoring at Chepstow last week and a 6lb penalty for that victory shouldn't prevent a bold follow-up bid. Senor Pockets looks to be progressing the right way after recording a C&D success last month and a 5lb rise in the handicap doesn't look insurmountable, so he rates a lively danger. Byefornow is interesting now dropped in distance and can battle it out for minor honours.

A trappy handicap where few can be ruled out, with narrow preference for DUBAI STATION. The selection returned to form at Ascot 12 days ago with a solid third and, 1lb lower today, he makes plenty of appeal running off the same mark as his C&D success in May. City Walk can be excused a lesser effort on turf when last seen but had looked progressive prior to that and has won his last two starts on the all-weather. He has a career-high mark to contend with, but he still rates the biggest threat. Ayr Harbour is yet to win this season, but the five-year-old has been a model of consistency and looks sure to be on the premises once more.

SCHWARTZ has hit the ground running since returning from a break and a 6lb rise might not be enough to prevent him from landing the four-timer. He takes a drop in distance today, but he looks a versatile sort and the lightly-raced four-year-old appears open to further progress. The Sir Mark Prescott-trained Gordons Aura has so far proved expensive to follow, but her previous conqueror has subsequently gone on to win again, so a 1lb rise could prove lenient here and she rates a big danger. The rest of the field appear to be in the grip of the handicapper, but Tazaman should appreciate the return to all-weather and can prove the best of them.

CLOCH NUA was only beaten a length over this trip, on the all-weather, at Lingfield before another pleasing effort over 1m2f at Ripon last time. He remains on the same mark this evening and, with conditions in his favour, looks likely to run a big race. Bankawi has been running consistently well and must enter calculations, while Shabs, Channel Packet and Kotyonok are other names to note.

SEAL OF SOLOMON didn't have much luck when bidding to complete a Yarmouth hat-trick last time, when hampered and losing ground at a crucial stage, and he can be given another chance on his return to all-weather duty. At Liberty continues to knock on the door and he shouldn't be too far away at the business end of this race, while Travesuras and Engrave also hold claims.
