The Kevin Ryan trained SNOW GIRL (best priced at 16/1) put in a career bet performance last time at Newcastle when upped in trip to 7f and she should run well back in handicap company. The two-year-old had previously finished 2nd at Redcar in May over 6f before finishing a two length 3rd at Nottingham on his penultimate start. She outran odds of 40/1 that day to finish 3rd off a mark of 67 before switching back to a maiden last time.

Snow Girl finished a close 2nd last time at Newcastle on her first start over 7f and she now switches back to a handicap off a mark of 66 which makes her 1lb “well in” at the weights and I expect her to run well with four places on offer.

The Roger Varian trained BOLT ACTION (best priced at 7/4) ran well to finish at close 2nd in a listed race last time and a repeat of that effort should mean he is hard to beat in this race. The son of Kessaar made a winning debut over this trip at Leicester before finishing 6th in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot on his next start. He has placed in all three of his next career starts including in listed races on his latest two appearances.

Bolt Action finished a two length 3rd at York over 5f before finishing a neck behind Shouldvebeenaring over 6f at Ripon. That rival is well fancied for the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes tomorrow so it looks strong form and given how freely Bolt Action raced last time over 6f, this drop back in trip to 5f shouldn’t inconvenience him.

Bolt Action - 1pt @ 7/4

Last year’s winner ECLIPSE DE LUNAR (best priced at 8/1) runs here off a 10lb lower mark than last year and he should hold strong claims back at this track. The Tim Easterby trained four-year-old is 2/2 at Ayr in his career and is obviously well handicapped in comparison to his previous ratings. Since his victory in this race off a mark of 70 last year, he has dropped all the way down to a mark of 60 following some below par efforts.

Eclipse De Lunar was only beaten 1 ½ lengths last month at Wolverhampton off a mark of 61 though so he arrives into this race on the back of a good recent run and his regular cheekpieces are replaced by first time blinkers. This race will have no doubt been the target for some time and I expect him to run well with up to five places available.

Eclipse De Lunar - 0.5pts e/w @ 8/1
