UK Horse Racing Tips: Warwick

ALLBETSOFF was running a race full of promise on his stable debut for Mark Walford at Cartmel before falling at the last. The six-year-old may have finished second best, but he could prove the one to beat now returned to novice company receiving 7lb from two of his main rivals in Larusso and Sophosc. The latter is seen as the biggest danger after an eventful win at Plumpton in May and he's been running with credit on the Flat since. Cornicello is another to consider.

Fanzio has some questions to answer after pulling up at Stratford in May and he doesn't even have the benefit of any respite from the handicapper, so it may be best to focus on the other two runners in this small field. EL BORRACHO has been in good form over the smaller obstacles of late and, although he returns to fences off a career-high mark, he has a capable conditional claiming 7lb which could prove key. Ragamuffin is respected and he should give the selection something to think about.

With little solid form to go on, it may be worth taking a chance on SOLSTALLA, a mare who won this race in 2020. The David Weston inmate shaped well on her return to racing in June and she may have been saved for this. Maria Magdalena has been running well of late without winning and she could prove the chief threat, with Une De La Seniere one to consider now eased in both class and distance.

The safest option is VISION DES FLOS, who won this contest quite comfortably last year off the same mark. The former National Spirit winner may not have shown much in the interim, but his most recent second over hurdles at Market Rasen was more encouraging. Fellow C&D winner Fat Sam is well capable on his day and he can give him the most to think about, while the veteran Leapaway is also interesting.

It is hard to look beyond EL PASO WOOD, who hasn't been for passing off the front at Uttoxeter and Stratford the last twice. The eight-year-old is still 5lb below his career-high mark off which he ran fifth in the Midlands National in March, and he should have too much for Soldier Of Love, who will enjoy conditions and must be of interest on his first start for new connections. Little Bruce returned from a long absence to run well at Uttoxeter in July and is another to note.

The Ben Pauling yard have been in scintillating form this season and SERJEANT PAINTER merits plenty of respect. The seven-year-old was narrowly denied at Market Rasen last month and a 2lb rise shouldn't stop him from going close once more. The opposition all have questions to answer, with Joly Maker put forward as the chief threat now dropped in distance. Eureu Du Boulay is another to consider, but the eight-year-old may need some respite from the handicapper.

A chance is taken on the Fergal O'Brien-trained FORTUNE FOREVER given how well placed the stable's horses have been in recent years and because they boast a good strike-rate this season in bumpers. Treefinch sets the standard of those who have had a run and looks the biggest danger, with Indelible Spin rated best of the rest. Any sustained market support for any of the other newcomers should also be noted.
