Eagle’s Way will undoubtedly prove popular here and will likely go off short but CROACHILL catches my eye for Roger Varian. The latter is definitely coming to the boil and she was third behind State Occasion and Amanzoe at York which is form I rate pretty highly. She will keep improving with experience and I’m surprised she is as big as 9/2 here. Eagle’s Way has looked a bit awkward at times and while he might continue to progress at that price sometimes you have to take a chance and oppose. Satono Japan surprisingly is yet to strike on turf but still has to be respected. Outside World won last time but this is definitely deeper company so while I’m surprised she is as big as she is in the betting she will need to find more.

The three-year-old CITY VAULTS must have a big engine to win as he did last time despite having pulled so hard. I’ve had my eye on him for a while to be honest and stepping up to two miles now he surely has more to come as his stamina is drawn out further? This looks a good opportunity if he improves again and I think he’ll be well backed. Captain Howse kept on well to win last time but I think he’ll need to find more to beat the selection. Copperplate isn’t sure to be suited by this test but if seeing it out has to be respected. Bird For Life usually gives away a bit of ground at the start but if getting away on terms isn’t entirely ruled out. I like the selection a lot now the penny has dropped though and the trip looks a good move.
