Canaria Prince only gave way late on at Carlisle and the four-year-old still appears to be in good heart, so he may prove the chief threat to the selection. Blazing Hot is another to consider on his first start for the David Brown yard.

This appears to be a decent opportunity for KITAI to shed her maiden tag following a pair of seconds at Haydock in recent weeks. Golden Passport could give the selection most to think about if building on his promising racecourse debut at Salisbury in July. Penny Ghent looks the most solid of the others with form, while any money for the newcomers, particularly Banquo, should be noted.

EAGLE'S WAY hasn't looked back since being gelded and stepped up in distance, winning three on the bounce, with another 6lb rise for his latest win at Nottingham unlikely to stop him from going close once more. Fellow three-year-olds Outside World and Croachill are both solid threats, with the latter in particular running a race full of promise on her handicap debut at York last month.

A taking winner on his debut at Catterick in July, form of which has been well franked in the interim, WAN'EM has been given time since and is taken to overcome a 7lb penalty. Not beaten far on his debut at Ripon last month, Lerwick is open to improvement along with the fourth from that contest, Edge Of Darkness, who ran with credit at Goodwood most recently on ground that may not have suited.

A winner of a competitive handicap at Goodwood on his penultimate start, where he had the subsequent Ayr Silver Cup winner behind, LORD RIDDIFORD brings a strong level of form to this contest and he can strike dropping in grade. Runninwild has done little wrong this season and commands plenty of respect, while C&D winner Ventura Express should relish going back in trip. Rayong and Ready Freddie Go cannot be ruled out either.

None of these have been overly persuasive so far, including the only previous winner in the field, Swift Lioness, who appeared to find a stiff mile stretching her at Newcastle last time. With neither Honeymooner or Enola Grey finding improvement last time, it may pay to take a chance on ZAAKARA exploiting a lowly mark on her handicap debut after running her best race to date at Kempton earlier in the month.

The thriving It Just Takes Time looked better than ever when making it four wins from his last five starts at Redcar last week, but a 5lb penalty may just prove too much. Preference is for in-form course specialist CORINTHIA KNIGHT, who, despite picking up a 6lb rise for successive wins, has scored off higher marks in the past. David O'Meara's recent Irish recruit Speedacus is also very much one to note having scored for his previous yard at Navan last time.
