Despite just the six runners this is quite a good race and even though she has been a little uneasy in the betting I do like the chances of ELECTRESS now with Archie Watson. She made a winning start for this yard at Brighton at the start of the month staying on really well in the closing stages. The second Euraquilo won his next start at Lingfield so the form definitely has some substance. She is only up 3lb and has more to come so 9/2 seems very generous to me.

I know there is a bit of rain about today but she was only denied a short head in testing ground at Goodwood as a two-year-old so that wouldn’t be a reason for the drift. Cumulonimbus looks the danger as he improved to win at Yarmouth and that was pretty convincing. This is tougher though and a 6lb penalty makes things harder. Typical Woman shaped better than the bare result at Windsor and the first-time cheekpieces might help here.

I’ve been waiting for STATE OCCASION to run again since seeing her beat Amanzoe at York. I really liked the second heading into that and given the ease with which she despatched that rival she has to be a great bet here to follow up. She was keen enough in the early stages of that race but hit the line strong and did it with plenty up her sleeve. Her form is progressive now and she clearly deserves a crack at Listed company.

I think she is a Group filly in the making so I’ll be disappointed if she is beaten here. Bear Story has won over track and trip before and ran well when second to Boundless Ocean in the Meld Stakes at Leopardstown. Cairde Go Deo was second to Rumbles Of Thunder in the Give Thanks Stakes at Cork and is another one that would have to be seriously considered as that form stacks up. Aikhal best of the rest but he needs more on what we’ve seen from him recently.
