I think there's a good chance that the best is yet to come with MONTASSIB. He looked a horse going places winning his first 3 and while he hasn’t won since May he has some very good form to his name in defeat. He finished an excellent fifth to Inver Park at Royal Ascot just having too much ground to make up before finishing fourth in the Bunbury Cup. He then fared best of those held up when fourth in the Shergar Cup Mile at Ascot and remains unexposed. If he improves again on just his second start over this trip then he should be going close. Akhu Najla was an expensive yearling and he looked good at Yarmouth but didn’t match that when turned over at Sandown and while he retains potential he is going to need to improve again. Encourageable finally put it altogether last time and is another one that could run a big race.

I loved the way ROSE PRICK overcame trouble in running to make a winning handicap debut at Newbury last month. He stayed on strongly at Ascot last time but just failed to get up in a really tight finish. She should keep improving and this better ground will probably help too. There is potential for a fair bit of pace from the likes of Alexa’s Princess and Bonnsie and that would be an ideal scenario as the selection will be held up for a late run. Zebra Star clocked a career best winning at Yarmouth and she is feared but an 8lb rise looks a little harsh to me. Palm Lily is quite a big price albeit I did expect more from her when only fourth at Doncaster last time. If this pans out better and she is at home on the track though she might be worth an each way saver. Mystic Pearl won at Thirsk and also looks to have more to offer yet.
