HURSTWOOD arrives here seeking a hat-trick after successive wins after scoring twice over 6f at Redcar and thus he makes most appeal. Peter Niven's charge has been raised 5lb for his latest one and a quarter length win but that doesn't appear likely to halt his progression. Should he not fire, Wade's Magic is likely to be the one to pick up the pieces. Tim Easterby's five-year-old runs off the same mark as when third at Catterick last time, while Brides Bay is another to consider.

SPIRIT OF APPLAUSE has been knocking on the door of late and he gets the nod in this contest. Tim Easterby's two-year-old has rattled off a string of seconds recently but has shaped as if he's capable of winning a race of this nature, most recently when beaten by a half length over 7f at Thirsk. Star Of Havana is an interesting debutant who warrants respect, while Chattel Village heads the remainder.

This is a competitive handicap and marginal preference is for VALSTAR, who was narrowly beaten over 7f at Catterick on her latest outing. Tim Easterby's charge was running on strongly on that occasion and, up in trip to a mile today, she is likely to appreciate the extra yardage. Masterpainter is seemingly the biggest danger after his success at Thirsk last time, but he has been raised 4lb for that win. Love Fifteen is another to note.

THORNABY PEARL has won and finished runner-up on his two visits to this track and, having finished a fine second at Doncaster earlier this month, he looks sure to make his presence felt again. The hat-trick seeking Good Luck Fox has looked a rejuvenated character lately, having won at Nottingham and more recently Catterick, and he demands the utmost respect. Catch Cunningham got up in the dying strides at York earlier this month and is dropping in class now.

JUSTANOTHERBOTTLE is 5lb higher than when winning this race last year, but that is eliminated with his riders' valuable claim and he's tipped to make it four wins from five starts at this track. Although Air Raid hasn't been seen since chasing home Snazzy Jazzy at Hamilton in June, he must enter calculations. Fortamour was down the field in the Ayr Silver Cup last week but a return to this course will suit.

KINCADE made all to win at Pontefract last month and although he has been given a 5lb rise for that effort, the improving son of Nathaniel thrived for the stiffer test on that occasion and may gallop them into submission here. The biggest threat is likely to come from Chuvelo, who got off the mark on the Flat in impressive style at Carlisle earlier this month. The consistent Emaraty Hero rarely runs a bad race and looks to have solid place claims.

Some fascinating rivals lock horns here, but SUSPICIOUS looked in need of the run when a well-beaten third on her return from an absence in July and with that outing under her belt, she can be expected to fare much better today, upped further in distance. Hexameter is by far the most experienced of these and, in receipt of weight from most of her rivals, it's unlikely she'll be far away. Good Show is another to consider following his debut win at Hamilton last month.

TILLY THE FILLY is starting to look very well handicapped on some of her form and, with Harry Russell taking 3lb off her back, a chance is taken on her to finally get off the mark. Flavius Titus wasn't beaten far into fifth at Pontefract last time and dropped 1lb for that, he can go well, while Macho Pride is another to consider off a 14lb lower mark than when winning at Haydock last summer.
