13:51 Southwell

I’m heading over Jumps for both my Notebooks on Tuesday. I like the chances of CHESS PLAYER in the opener at Southwell. This good looker was talented on the Flat and has plenty of solid form to his name over hurdles as well. He made an impressive start over fences winning readily at Worcester and while he has disappointed since he never really travelled that day and made too many mistakes. I think the small field probably went against him too as he likes to be held up and pick rivals off.  This scenario should suit better and I can see him bouncing back. Go As You Please was always held last time and makes too many mistakes for me. Annual Review might pose a greater threat as he should come on for that Bangor run and is obviously unexposed on just his second start over fences.

15:20 Sedgefield

I’m sticking with MASTER MALACHY to make it a perfect 3-3 over fences at Sedgefield on Tuesday. He travelled like a dream at Bangor before winning well and then backed that up over C&D last time winning unchallenged. This is obviously tougher but he is open to further improvement and I think it looks a good bit of placing as this is winnable again. Cawthorne brought up the hat-trick at Market Rasen and was only headed in the final strides bidding for a four-timer. He looks the obvious danger but it won’t be easy to peg back the selection who will likely go hard off the front end again. Tico Times has won 2 of his last 3 but it will be interesting to see what tactics they deploy here as it won’t benefit him to make it a pace burnup. If Not For Dylan isn’t entirely ruled out either but can sometimes take too long to get going.
