UK Horse Racing Tips: Sedgefield

Jack Yeats was in good form when last seen over hurdles in June. Although the six-year-old has been slightly below-par on his last few starts on the Flat, it wouldn't be a surprise if he was on the premises. Lucky Lover Boy went close at Stratford last time and is another to consider.

It is hard to look past MCTIGUE on his timber bow given he was rated 97 on the Flat and recently finished a very creditable third in a hotly-contested handicap at Killarney. He has to be of serious interest if transferring that form over hurdles and Emmet Mullins' gelding gets the vote from Bringbackmemories, who made a pleasing start for his new stable last month. Vintage Valley completes the shortlist on his hurdling bow.

A case can be made for most in this field, but NEFYN POINT stepped up in trip to record a much-improved second on his most recent run over C&D earlier this month. Donald McCain's charge has gone up 1lb for that run and must enter calculations again, while Onenightintown has been fairly consistent of late and could also have a say in proceedings. Jessica Rabbit is another to note on her chase debut.

Having made his debut over hurdles in Grade 2 company at Kempton in February, this looks an ideal spot for LEGIONAR to get his season off to the best possible start. He won an Aintree bumper last November and didn't disgrace himself in three previous outings after that. Sizing Mauritius is having his first start for Samuel Drinkwater having won at Kilbeggan for Jessica Harrington in April and looks an interesting recruit. Grey Market was a most impressive winner at Hexham when last seen and completes the shortlist.

MASTER MALACHY is two from two over fences and arrives here on the back of an impressive win over C&D earlier this month. Granted it was only a three runner event on that occasion, but the manner of his victory suggested he hs taken to chasing well and is expected to get the hat-trick up. Cawthorne has been in fine form throughout the summer, only narrowly failing to make it four wins on the spin here last month, and looks the likely danger. Any market confidence behind Mordred would be significant on his chasing debut.

ZAMOND found one too strong at Bangor last month and a recent wind operation might yield further progression from the six-year-old. Just Call Me Al was a comprehensive winner of this race last year and arrives here on a 3lb higher mark. He appeared to blow the cobwebs away at Uttoxeter a fortnight ago and may surprise a few. Donald McCain's other representative, last-time-out winner Genever Dragon, showed a willing attitude to score at Kelso, although Brian Hughes has deserted him for the selection.

Gentle Slopes arrives following an emphatic win in a Point-to-Point on his latest run in March. He is a half-brother to the talented On The Slopes and remains of interest on his Rules bow. However, THIRSTY WEATHER built on his racecourse debut to finish a good third in a bumper at Southwell in July. He retains the headgear first sported on that occasion and is entitled to improve further. Emily Wade is another to bear in mind.
