I know SAVROLA has been turned over as favourite the last twice but this son of Churchill hasn’t done a lot wrong and I remain convinced he still has more to offer. He showed a good attitude to make a winning handicap debut at Haydock back in July and has performed creditably in defeat twice since. I just think he was too keen to do himself justice when run down late at Windsor and then he bumped into the hugely progressive Simply Sondheim at Newmarket last month.

I still think he’s improving and he won’t mind the ground however it turns out. He should be able to get a nice bit of cover in this bigger field and he looks the value play against the favourite. Smiling Jayne remains a filly with more to offer after going down just a length at Ayr and is the likely danger. Tathbeet remains unexposed but will need to settle better to have a say in the finish.
