In a race where most of the runners come with risks attached, Sam England's mare SPOT ON SOPH might be the most reliable option. She was progressive over fences last season over this sort of trip and, back over hurdles now, she might be the answer if ready to go following an absence. Ayr Of Elegance didn't appear to stay over further at Perth last time but, back down in trip, she can do better, while Fenney Brook is one to keep a close eye on.
Prediction : 1st Spot On Soph 2nd Ayr Of Elegance 3rd Fenney Brook

It is hard to look past FRINGILL DIKE, who has a perfect 3-3 record here at Hexham and, if resuming the progress he showed at the back end of last season, Jedd O'Keefe's five-year-old will be very tough to beat. Five Dollar Fine hasn't been seen since winning a point-to-point last October and could go well, while Ginger Pointe is another from the point-to-point sphere who is entitled to respect.
Prediction : 1st Fringill Dike 2nd Five Dollar Fine 3rd Ginger Pointe

Thatbeatsbanagher bounced back to form at Sedgefield last time but, with a 4lb rise over this shorter trip, he looks vulnerable and preference is for ANGE ENDORMI. Barbara Butterworth's charge finished a close second at Cartmel last month in a similar contest to this and a further 2lb rise is unlikely to stop him going close again. Wotsmyname performed well when fourth over C&D back in March and he's another to consider.
Prediction : 1st Ange Endormi 2nd Thatbeatsbanagher 3rd Wotsmyname

The classy CAPTAIN TOM CAT has been given plenty of time to get over his Grade 2 chase fall at Cheltenham last November and, with Cillin Leonard taking a handy 5lb off his back, he rates the one to beat on his seasonal/hurdling return. Willaston only found course specialist Liffeydale Dreamer too good at Cartmel last month (pulling a long way clear of the remainder) and he can figure prominently again, while Faron warrants respect on his stable debut for Ann Duffield.
Prediction : 1st Captain Tom Cat 2nd Willaston 3rd Faron

Minella Plus is entitled to improve for his comeback third over hurdles at Uttoxeter earlier this month and must enter calculations on his chasing debut, but dual course scorer SAINT ARVANS edges the vote. He gamely made all over track and trip last time and a 3lb rise might not be enough to anchor him if arriving in the same mood. Diamond State, who wears a first-time tongue-tie on his fencing bow, could prove best of the remaining pair.
Prediction : 1st Saint Arvans 2nd Minella Plus 3rd Diamond State

Larry Looby has been in fine fettle over the summer months, but Micky Hammond's charge has a bit to prove following a below-par performance here last time. With that in mind, the vote goes to ABINGTON PARK, who displayed improvement on his second start over fences when fitted with first-time cheekpieces (retained). Storm Lorenzo can be forgiven his latest effort, having slipped up, and he heads the remainder.
Prediction : 1st Abington Park 2nd Larry Looby 3rd Storm Lorenzo

RAECIUS FELIX arrives here at the top of his game following back-to-back successes and Rebecca Menzies' eight-year-old could prove tough to beat if performing at the same level here. A winner over an extended 1m7f last time out, Going Mobile remains well handicapped off a 4lb higher mark and looks set to go well once more. Ensel Du Perche finished in behind that rival that day but might close the gap at these revised terms.
Prediction : 1st Raecius Felix 2nd Going Mobile 3rd Ensel Du Perche
