A lot of these comes here with a point to prove but not WINNING RASCAL who comfortably bettered anything he had achieved previously winning easily at Listowel 9 days ago. He travelled notably well into that race and just had to be pushed out to go on and score by 7 and a half lengths. He is up 9lb but if he has turned a corner I see no reason why he won’t go and follow up here. Ocojohn went down just a length and a quarter when third at Wexford last time so if reproducing that sort of run here that would see him emerge as the main danger to the selection. Twoplustwo Equals remains a maiden and while he was thrashed last time his reappearance third at Tramore was quite a good run so making his handicap hurdle debut if he bounces back he might not be too far away either. Bear Claws is interesting on some of his form but definitely needs to show more before you can envisage him getting competitive.

I’m definitely sticking with CHAMP KIELY to remain unbeaten under Rules at Tipperary on Sunday. Willie Mullins 6yo overcame inexperience to make a winning start in a bumper at Limerick and then looked a serious prospect bolting up by 21 lengths on hurdles debut at Galway. He clearly has a big engine this horse and back down to 2 miles in soft ground he will improve again. This has some nice types lining up so it will be tougher but he looks exciting to me. Brazil beat Gaelic Warrior a short head to win the Boodles at Cheltenham and while he wasn’t quite in the same form at Aintree he should still have a big season ahead. He usually needs his first run of the season though. Hubrisko made the breakthrough at Galway and is also respected but this is tougher and I think he’ll need more to come out on top. The Friday Man is on a roll so also has a squeak at a bigger price but this is a race that will likely work out well in time.
