Steve Ryder is back with three tips from today's action, with runners at Leicester, Brighton and Galway.
The James Evans trained MINTANA (best priced at 10/1) was extremely eyecatching last time at Leicester and she looks overpriced off a 2lbs lower mark. The daughter of Havana Grey had previously run with credit in two Kempton nurseries before being sent off 5/1 for a Chepstow nursery last time over 5f.
Mintana stumbled coming out of the stalls and as a result the saddle slipped and Mollie Phillips struggled throughout the whole race to stay in a balanced position. She looked slightly outpaced over the minimum trip but stayed on under tender handling to finish 3rd beaten only four lengths. She steps up in trip to 6f here, has been dropped 2lbs and is also now ridden by Ray Dawson which is a positive. With up to six places available on this race, I expect her to finish in the frame.
The Michael Attwater trained MARY OF MODENA (best priced at 9/2) has looked progressive so far this season and comes into this race having won over this course and distance last time. The three-year-old filly had won twice this season at Windsor and Lingfield before her course and distance success here a month ago.
Mary Of Modena beat the reopposing Lethal Angel by ½ length that day and the form of that victory has been boosted by the runner-up winning over this course and distance last time by 2 ¾ lengths. The handicapper has raised Lethal Angel 8lbs for that victory whereas Mary Of Modena has only been raised 2lbs for her success so she is better off at the weights with that rival despite beating her last time and I expect her to confirm that form.
Giving 9lbs to the four-year-old Iberique Du Seuil won’t prove an easy task for HALLOWED STAR (best priced at 5/4) but I expect him to get off the mark on his second start over fences. The Shark Hanlon trained seven-year-old has been in consistently good form for over a year now with form figures of 112422512 including an impressive 17 length victory over hurdles at this course in July.
Hallowed Star finished 2nd in a strong novice chase last time behind Sit Down Lucy but that was a good chasing debut and he is higher rated than his rivals over hurdles.
