Steve Ryder - Some Chaos

The Michael Scudamore trained SOME CHAOS (best priced at 5/1) has a good record fresh as well as a good record at this course and I feel he will prove hard to beat in this Veterans’ Chase

The 11-year-old won by seven lengths on his reappearance in 2018, finished 4th in a novice hurdle at Cheltenham in 2019, finished 3rd at this meeting in 2020 in a handicap chase off a mark of 140 before winning this race on his reappearance last year off a mark of 139.

Some Chaos runs in this race off a mark of 138 this year and despite coming into this race following a poor effort last time, he had exactly the same preparation last year. Regular rider Ben Poste is back on board and I expect him to prove hard to beat with The Mighty Don, who is a previous course and distance winner, looking the biggest danger.

Architect Tips - Nina The Terrier

Alan King’s six-year-old NINA THE TERRIER won her first three starts over hurdles last year, which included a win at this course before completing her hat-trick in a class two event at Newbury.

She would have taken her hurdles record to four-from-four without falling at the last hurdle in a Listed event back at Newbury next time but she proved none the worse for that mishap when half-a-length second in another Listed event next time.

She wasn’t disgraced in a couple of Grade Two events the next twice, including at the Cheltenham Festival, and was last seen finishing a length second in a Grade Two back at Newbury.

She’s two-from-two returning from an absence of five months plus, will handle the ground, has the course winning form and her trainer is amongst the winners. Furthermore, this is a huge drop in grade, so she gets a confident vote to make a winning return to action here.

Andy Holding – Knappers Hill

KNAPPERS HILL won at this meeting last year so there's a decent chance he's had this race in mind for quite a while. Signed off last season with a smooth victory in a competitive handicap at Sandown and loves good ground.
