FLASH COLLONGES was expected to make up into a decent chaser following a productive novice hurdle campaign, winning three of his five starts over the smaller obstacles, but things didn't quite go to plan in three outings over fences last season. That said, his second to Dusart at Exeter wasn't a bad effort and a subsequent wind operation might yield improvement. Press Your Luck won a valuable handicap hurdle at Kempton and has to be respected on his first attempt at almost 3m under Rules, while Art Approval needs to step forward on what he has achieved over timber.
Prediction : 1st Flash Collonges 2nd Press Your Luck 3rd Art Approval

Cloth Cap relishes a sound surface and the 10-year-old, who was dropped 12lb in the space of five runs last season, has become fairly handicapped following a number of efforts on ground too soft for him to do himself justice. However, the vote goes to last year's winner SOME CHAOS, who scored off a 2lb higher mark and was seen being competitive in similar contests in the spring prior to being pulled up at Fakenham. The Mighty Don's sole victory over fences came on this card in the novice chase two years ago and conditions are ideal for him to be in the mix.
Prediction : 1st Some Chaos 2nd The Mighty Don 3rd Cloth Cap

QUID PRO QUO has looked an exciting recruit to hurdling, scoring on both starts this summer at Warwick and under a penalty at Newton Abbot, and the manner of those victories suggest he is capable of making an impact stepped up in grade. Presentandcounting arrives following a recent success in a decent prize at Worcester, while Scipion, who was third in the Leamington at Warwick, and Outlaw Peter are others worth noting.
Prediction : 1st Quid Pro Quo 2nd Presentandcounting 3rd Scipion

HUGOS NEW HORSE made a pleasing start when winning a bumper at Worcester last October and, although he didn't look entirely straightforward when well beaten in a Listed contest at Ascot in December, he has been given plenty of time to mature and, with more improvement likely, he looks the one to side with with Harry Cobden back in the saddle. Collectors Item showed plenty of ability when second in a bumper in March on his first start under Rules and he looks the biggest danger, ahead of Christian Williams' Gladiatus, who could be a useful recruit from the point-to-point scene.
Prediction : 1st Hugos New Horse 2nd Collectors Item 3rd Gladiatus

DANCINGONTHEEDGE will have gone into plenty of notebooks when winning a bumper in April at Worcester on her racecourse debut and if she transfers the ability shown there to hurdling, she could prove extremely tough to beat in this. Presenting A Queen is 2-2 in bumpers and Chris Gordon's mare is entitled to maximum respect, with that yard in excellent form, while Desert Fortune wasn't far behind Presenting A Queen on her debut under Rules at Plumpton and she looks open to any amount of improvement.
Prediction : 1st Dancingontheedge 2nd Presenting A Queen 3rd Desert Fortune

NINA THE TERRIER has an excellent record fresh and there's a suspicion a mark of 131 might underestimate what she achieved last year, so Alan King's mare is fancied to make a winning start to the season. Monsieur Lecoq was rated as high as 151 over hurdles a couple of years ago, so off a mark 126 back over the smaller obstacles, he's one to take very seriously, while Holly was last seen winning at Wincanton in December and Jonjo O'Neill's mare looks open to plenty of improvement on her return.
Prediction : 1st Nina The Terrier 2nd Monsieur Lecoq 3rd Holly

Milton Harris has his string in fine form and he must hold every chance with Len Brennan, but preference is for MANOTHEPEOPLE. The son of Mahler makes his chasing debut having recorded back-to-back successes over hurdles earlier in the year and he could prove too strong for an outfit who excel in these type of contests. Favori De Sivola is fancied to win the battle for third, ahead of Powerful Position.
Prediction : 1st Manothepeople 2nd Len Brennan 3rd Favori De Sivola
