Middleham-based trainer Karl Burke has enjoyed a terrific season with his younger horses and his LOOKING FOR LYNDA, who faces her easiest assignment since stepping out of novice company, is fancied to show her class under top-weight here. Match Play and Russet Gold are others with more to offer, while Queenie Rooney also has potential to take another step forward.

In a wide-open contest the marginal preference is for NORTHERN EXPRESS, who won over 7f here in June and he was not beaten far at all over the same trip in the International at Ascot two starts ago. He is now 1lb lower than when seventh in a valuable contest over C&D at the Ebor meeting and he merits plenty of respect. Empirestateofmind could prove to be the main threat based on his second last time, although Cruyff Turn and Substantial are others high up on the shortlist.

More aggressive tactics possibly didn't suit Shouldvebeenaring at Newbury and the Havana Grey colt, who had previously won a sales race here and a Listed contest at Ripon, demands respect on his first try beyond 6f, but preference is for the unbeaten STREETS OF GOLD. He also won at the August meeting here and overcame soft ground, which he reportedly didn't like, to strike at the Curragh last time. This step up in trip should pose no problems and he gets the nod, while Tyrone's Poppy also merits consideration.

William Haggas boasts a strong hand with NATHANAEL GREENE, a winner at Haydock when last seen in July, and Post Impressionist, who went close on his latest start. The former gets the vote, though, as he improved plenty for stepping up in trip, when getting the better of St Leger third Giavellotto in the aforementioned contest, and the gelding is taken to handle an 8lb rise from the handicapper. Others to note include Double Cherry, Zain Nights and Aimeric.

MATTICE went close in the Ayr Bronze Cup over 6f last time, but he just didn't quite get home that day and a return to this trip looks ideal, so Tim Easterby's three-year-old appears the one to side with in a competitive contest. Alligator Alley was a good fourth at Haydock last time and a repeat of that would see him go close, while David Loughnane's filly Kape Moss still looks open to plenty of improvement and is another to consider.

A case can be made for several of these, but the Roger Varian-trained ALMATY STAR showed plenty of promise when keeping on for third on his racecourse debut at Haydock last month. He was left short of room over 2f out during that contest and can improve, while Nwaira boasts an appealing pedigree and could also make her presence felt. Bailey Gate seeks a positive return to turf and completes the shortlist.

A highly-competitive handicap that could see solid efforts from the hat-trick seeking Astral Beau as well as the recent Chester winner Devilwala, but a chance is taken on KING TRITON. Grant Tuer's gelding could surprise them all dropping back down in trip and class. Others to consider include Theotherside, who could be happier back on the turf after some decent efforts on the all-weather, and perhaps the lightly-raced Dreams Of Thunder.
