Protagonist was last seen finishing in midfield in the Cambridgeshire and he may be worth another chance having not been on right side of the track at Newmarket. Saga looks likely to relish this step up in trip and is feared also.

Ayr Silver Cup hero Dusky Lord could still prove feasibly treated from a 9lb higher mark and rates the biggest threat, ahead of Mr Wagyu and Dakota Gold. Twice a winner of this race, Gulliver isn't to be underestimated, likewise recent C&D scorer Bergerac.

GARDEN ROUTE made a pleasing start to his career over 1m at Newmarket, where he was third of eight, and he's entitled to have taken a step forward for that effort. Feud is likely to be the biggest danger after his debut fourth over 7f at Newbury and another bold bid can be expected, while the nicely-bred Modesty is an interesting debutant.

ATACAMA DESERT comes into this in search of a hat-trick having relished the step up to this distance here last month. The handicapper reacted by putting him up 8lb but the manner of victory suggested the four-year-old could have plenty more to offer as a stayer. Duke Of Verona can enter the reckoning after finishing fourth at Newmarket, while others worth considering include Whitehaven, who was third at Goodwood last time, and Carrigillihy.
