I’m fairly convinced this trip will be an optimum for COUNTRY PYLE given the way she won at Goodwood and what we’ve seen since. That Newbury defeat has worked out well since and her two runs up to two miles were both solid only getting claimed late in the day. Back down to a mile and three quarters off what still looks to be a lenient enough mark I think we’ll see a good performance. There is plenty of pace on here and that might suit her too as I think she is better when getting a toe in. Night Sparkle clocked a career best at Haydock but then she did have the run of the race and I think she’ll need to improve a fair bit to win this. Buxted Reel has won at this track and was a creditable second at Chelmsford so may end up posing a greater threat to the selection.

Expert Eye colt HELLO DEIRA needed every yard of the 7f to get up and win by a nose at Redcar last month. I thought that was a really likeable effort though and he stayed on strongly at the finish. He tackles a mile for the first time now and that should bring about further improvement. The second was given a tough ask in a fiercely competitive race at Newmarket next time out but the fifth Prairie Falcon won next time out at Ayr to give the form some substance. I think as long as this doesn’t turn too tactical he is the most likely winner. Maximilian Caesar got his head in front at Yarmouth and was back on track having run below par at Windsor when beaten just a length on handicap debut at Doncaster. With more to come he looks the main danger.
