Leg 1 Selections: At Liberty

The most consistent horse in the field is the Michael Bell trained AT LIBERTY who has only finished out of the top four once in his twelve runs in handicaps. The gelded son of Muhaarar has placed on both of his starts at Leicester with a close 3rd off a mark of 64 in May and a head 2nd last month off a mark of 67. He was only beaten a neck at Redcar off this mark of 68 and he looks sure to be involved in the finish.

Leg 2 Selections: Highbank 

It is surprising to see Flight Plan favourite ahead of HIGHBANK in this race given the Godolphin colt’s rating of 96 and I expect him to get back to winning ways in this race having tasted defeat at Newbury last time. The son of Kingman was an impressive winner from stablemate Bold Act on his debut by 3 ¾ lengths with that rival boosting the form since with three wins in a row. Highbank was sent off 8/13 to follow up in a conditions race at Newbury on his next start but he was unsuited by a small field where he raced too keenly and eventually finished 2nd behind Stormbuster. The handicapper has given him a rating of 96 following that run and it will take a good one to beat him if he runs up to that mark.

Leg 3 Selections: Fullforward

The likes of Camacho Star and Romantic Sunlight have shown their best form on the AW so preference goes to the Richard Hughes trained FULLFORWARD who has run consistently well in handicaps on his previous three starts. He had proved disappointing on his first three starts but has improved since being gelded and switched to handicaps where he has form figures of 334 with all three runs coming off a handicap mark of 50. Connections now fit him with first time headgear (blinkers) in this race and he should run well.

Leg 4 Selections: Magical Sunset

Despite having a few pounds to find with her rivals on ratings, MAGICAL SUNSET has shown strong form on her three starts that she is the selection in this race. The Richard Hannon trained filly beat the 115 rated Sakheer on her debut at Windsor before finishing 6th behind Cold Case in a sales race at Doncaster on her next start. Connections once again ran her in a valuable sales race on her next start when 4th only beaten three lengths at the Curragh where she ran well despite being hampered in the early stages of the race. She should be suited by this return to a smaller field and should run well with James Doyle taking the ride.

Leg 5 Selections: To The Bar

This looks a trappy seller but TO THE BAR should be involved in the finish if he runs up to anywhere near his rating of 84. The four-year-old makes his stable debut for Denis Quinn having left Richard Hughes after disappointing on his final two starts for the yard. He makes his turf debut in this race having only raced on the AW for his previous connections but his nearly 20lbs in hand over his rivals I hope he bounces back to form in this race.

Leg 6 Selections: Star Of Orion

The Ralph Beckett trained STAR OF ORION has shown improved form since the application of blinkers and he looks sure to run once again in this race. The four-year-old won off this mark of 94 last season before finishing 2nd by a short head at Ascot on his next start. The handicapper awarded him a mark of 102 following that run but he struggled off a mark that day until fitted with blinkers on his penultimate start when 2nd at Newmarket off a mark of 93. He was only beaten ½ length by Fresh last time at Ascot off a mark of 94 and gets to run here off the same mark so I expect be involved in the finish once again.
