The money came for PRAKASA on debut at Southwell but inexperience got the better of her, running green in the closing stages before being headed in the final stride. That was still a really encouraging run and she made no mistake improving to win at Kempton last time. She hit the front a furlong out and galloped right through the line which was good to see. She drops back to a mile here but doesn’t look to lack speed either and I’m expecting her to improve again tackling turf for the first time. She should get a nice toe in off Kingsofthemidlands before looking to finish the stronger. Zarabanda is probably the danger as she showed ability when third on debut at Newcastle and there is a strong likelihood of more to come.

I backed QOYA at Catterick and given my initial impression of her was that she was all about stamina I was disappointed to see her finish a well held fourth. I think the track and probably the ground caught her out though and that was much more like it at Nottingham last time. The rain got into the ground on that occasion and it was much more of a test of stamina. She will need to improve under a penalty here but the step up to 2 miles should be a catalyst for further progression and I’m keen to keep her on side. Kincade is bred to keep improving with age and experience and did just that to win at Pontefract last time and looks the obvious danger. Whitehaven has won over track and trip but needs to better that York run.
