Steve Ryder is back with three tips from today's action, with runners at Curragh, Brighton and Chelmsford.
15:10 Curragh
It is well known that Aidan O’Brien trained newcomers come on for their debut efforts and that should mean that HARLEY STREET (best priced at 15/8) is hard to beat on his second career start. The son of Galileo was sent off favourite for a maiden at this course last month but he found the 1m2f trip too sharp that day.
This step up in trip to 1m4f looks sure to suit this colt as he was outpaced at a crucial part of that contest before staying on well to finish 6th. He is expected to improve from that effort and should prove hard to beat under Wayne Lordan.
16:25 Brighton
Big Bard holds strong claims in this race from 2lbs “well in” at the weights but preference instead goes to BROXI (best priced at 4/1) who can complete a hat-trick of wins since the application of blinkers. The Dean Ivory trained four-year-old had regressed from a mark of 92 down to 54 since joining the yard a couple of years ago but he appears to have been revitalised by the application of headgear.
Broxi won by 4 ½ lengths over this course and distance on his penultimate start which was his first run in blinkers before following up off a 5lb higher mark last time at Southwell. The gelding runs here off a 6lb higher mark but looks one to keep onside in blinkers and I expect him to run well once again.
19:00 Chelmsford City
The James Tate trained OASIS POWER (best priced at 6/4) runs here from 4lbs “well in” at the weights and he should be able to get off the mark at the sixth attempt. The son of Oasis Dream finished a close 2nd last time by ½ length at Southwell when upped in trip to a mile for the first time in his career off a mark of 66.
The handicapper has raised the colt 4lbs for that run but he gets to run here off his previous mark of 66 meaning he is 4lbs “well in” at the weights. The stable have a good record with two-year-olds on the AW with a record of 7-16 this year and I expect Oasis Power to prove hard to beat.
