Prairie Wolf could prove the selection's biggest threat after finishing midfield in a Grade 2 bumper at Aintree. Alnitak rates best of those with hurdling experience.

The handicapper has struggled to keep with the improvement shown by Kinondo Kwetu, who is bidding for his fifth successive victory, and a further 7lb rise shouldn't prevent the Sam England-trained inmate from being competitive. However, a chance is taken on chase debutant SCIPION, who is clearly held in high regard after missing his engagement in the Persian War at Chepstow last week. Mumbo Jumbo also merits respect.

Geordie Des Champs has race fitness assured and is likely to prove competitive after securing a C&D success here at the start of the month, but a 3lb rise makes life tougher. COPPER COIN romped home on his seasonal debut at this course last October and his subsequent efforts showed that the Michael Scudamore inmate can pick up more races off this mark, so he gets the nod. Pounding Poet is another to note.

On the back of a solid campaign last season, REPRESENTING BOB looks to have plenty going for him on his first start this term. He was last seen when arguably unlucky to be beaten at Plumpton earlier this year and has gone well fresh in the past. Fitness won't be an issue for D'jango, who has been kept busy throughout the summer and has shown no signs of slowing down. Tea For Free remains unexposed at this level and is also noted.

ONESOC has been freshened up since getting off the mark at the fifth time of asking at Southwell in June and, having only been given a 2lb rise for that effort, he could prove a tough nut to crack in this. The obvious danger is the unexposed Coldstream, who won here last month on his first start for Alexandra Dunn. If Chef De Troupe can jump better than he did over C&D last time when he finished a close-up third then he can get competitive too.

A winner over C&D in July off 8lb lower, CAWTHORNE is as consistent as they come in the sphere and he can strike once more for his in-form connections. Sea Prince is harder to predict, having followed an easy success at Stratford with an underwhelming display at Worcester most recently. Ballybreeze showed enough over hurdles last season to make him a player on his first start over fences.

A highly promising second on her debut at Fairyhouse in April, MELLIFICENT has switched stables since and she looks the one to side with here. The daughter of Fame And Glory gets the vote ahead of comfortable Kelso scorer Bridget Breeze, who has a 7lb penalty to overcome for that victory. The Fergal O'Brien stable can do little wrong at present and newcomer Politacus must enter calculations too.
