Leg 1 Selections - Eldar Eldarov

Trueshan faces question marks following his previous two starts and preference instead goes to ELDER ELDAROV who was an impressive winner of the St Leger last time at Doncaster. The Roger Varian trained colt won the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot before slightly disappointing when dropped back to 1m4f in France on his next start in the Grand Prix de Paris. He won the St Leger at Doncaster last time by two lengths when stepped back up in trip and he should run well over 2 miles in this race.

Leg 2 Selections - Creative Force

This looks an open renewal of the race this year but preference goes to last year’s winner CREATIVE FORCE who has been sparingly campaigned so far this season. The Charlie Appleby trained four-year-old disappointed in Meydan on his reappearance before finishing only a neck behind stablemate Naval Crown at Royal Ascot in the Platinum Jubilee Stakes. He finished only 3 ½ lengths behind Alcohol Free in the July Cup at Newmarket on his next start before missing a couple of recent engagements in the Prix de la Foret and Bengough Stakes to arrive here fresh. He is well suited by the conditions of this race looks sure to be involved in the finish.

Leg 3 Selections - Mimikyu

John & Thady Gosden hold a strong hand in this race with both Emily Upjohn and MIMIKYU towards the top of the market with preference going to the latter based on recent form. The three-year-old has looked headstrong throughout her career so far so it was encouraging to see the first time hood work so well when she won the Park Hill Stakes in impressive fashion last time beating the reopposing Eshaada easily in the end. She is a full sister to Journey who won this race in 2016 and finished 2nd in 2015 and who showed all of her best form in a hood in her career. She has an official rating of 112 which puts her only 3lbs behind stablemate Emily Upjohn who has question marks to answer following her flop in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes over this course and distance last time and I expect her to run well.

Leg 4 Selections - The Revenant

The Francis- Henri Graffard trained THE REVENANT runs in this race for the fourth time and he should once again run well in the contest. The seven-year-old gelding finished a close 2nd in this race in 2019, won it in 2020 before finishing 4th behind Baaeed in the contest last year. He returned this season with two victories at Saint Cloud before finding the ground slightly too quick in the Prix du Moulin following a mid season break. He finished a close 2nd behind Erevann in the Prix Daniel Wildenstein last time despite making his challenge down the outside and conditions should once again suit him well in this race.

Leg 5 Selections - Baaeed

BAAEED makes his final appearance in the Champion Stakes and it would be a huge surprise if he didn’t up unbeaten in his career. He won the QEII on this card last year before stepping up in distance to win the Juddmonte International Stakes last time at York. He has an official rating of 135 which puts him 8lbs clear of his nearest rival and he should prove extremely hard to beat.

Leg 6 Selections - Escobar

The top weight ESCOBAR won this race in 2019 off a mark of 105 and he comes into the race this year following a victory in the Challenge Cup last time over 7f. He has lots of good form in big field handicaps and he should be suited by the conditions of this race. The David O’Meara trained eight-year-old runs here under a 6lb penalty which puts him 2lbs wrong at the weights but he should run well once again at this course.
