This is quite an intriguing race and I’m keen to chance ALIEN STORM for Charlie Longsdon. This son of Getaway didn’t show a great deal in two bumpers but showed potential on hurdles debut here last month. He ran on well at the finish but was perhaps just undone by inexperience. The winner Invictus De Brion looks a nice horse for Chris Gordon so it could be a piece of form that works out well in time. He was strong in the betting the last day as well which suggests to me they think they have quite a good one on their hands. I think he’ll improve and be good enough to take this. Rewired won at Fakenham back in March which was a good effort and wasn’t disgraced in a stronger race when third at Ascot. If ready to go on reappearance he looks to be the biggest danger to the selection.

With 2 wins from her last 3 the progressive ALWAJD can go in again at Wolverhampton tonight. She stayed on well to beat a fair yardstick in Lethal Touch at Chelmsford last month and is clearly thriving right now. She is up 3lb but looks to have plenty going for her once more. She is unexposed over this trip and I can see her improving again. Lethal Touch is consistent and runs again here so could be the one to chase her home. New Approach mare Miss Sligo has four wins to her name this year and while she was disappointing at Southwell she might bounce back and rattle the frame. Quoteline Direct has won over track and trip in the past and didn’t run badly when second at Ripon. He is another one that will likely be trying to run a place but looks vulnerable for win purposes once more.
