The Kayley Woollacott trained CASPERS COURT (best priced at 9/2) won this race off a 1lb lower mark two years ago and he should hold strong claims again this season. The handicapper raised the gelding 7lbs for that victory up to a mark of 107 where he struggled to get his head in front off a mark that high before appearing to lose his way last season when his mark dropped all the way down to 90. Connections decided to fit him with cheekpieces and those appear to have revitalised him with form figures of 2313 in headgear since then.

Caspers Court won in June off a mark of 93 before finishing a close 3rd at Newton Abbot last time off a mark of 97. The handicapper has raised him 2lbs for that run up to a mark of 99 which is still 1lb lower than his victory in this race a couple of years ago and I expect him to run well.

The George Boughey trained KINTA (best priced at 3/1) is unbeaten on the all-weather and she should be able to bounce back from a disappointing run at York last time. The filly won on her debut at Lingfield before following up under a penalty at Kempton on her next start. She finished only a length behind subsequent Group 1 winner Lezoo on her next start in the Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot before disappointing at York in the Lowther Stakes.

Kinta now switches back to the all-weather surface for this race and she should prove hard to beat in receipt of 5lbs from the colts and geldings.

This looks a competitive 0-60 handicap but preference goes to the Phil McEntee trained ALAFDHAL (best priced at 17/2) who returns back over this course and distance and is now fitted with a first time visor. The four-year-old won over this course and distance in June off a mark of 52 before finishing a close 3rd at Wolverhampton on his next start off a mark of 55.

Alafdhal has slightly disappointed on his most recent starts but he has now dropped down to a mark of 52 (his last winning mark) and also now returns back to 6f for this contest. Being by Lope De Vega he will be suited by the soft ground (won on good to soft in June) and I expect him to run well with up to five places on offer.

Alafdhal - 0.5pts e/w @ 17/2
