The unbeaten MAXIMILIAN looks a nice prospect for Donald McCain. He was picked up after winning an Irish point and that proved a shrewd purchase as he went on to win both his bumpers in good style. It is never easy following up under a penalty and I always felt he moved like the winner when last seen in March, staying on well. Put away since connections will be hopeful they have a nice one on their hands and up in trip for hurdles debut he could prove hard to beat. Cedar Row is by Westerner and is well related so catches the eye in those famous silks. He might be worth keeping an eye on in the betting. Get Up Mush was third in an Irish point and has since joined Dan Skelton so is another one who should have a bright future. Densworth impressed winning at Worcester but this looks much more competitive now over obstacles.

I think experience could count for plenty here so I make MAHALIK a strong play for Karl Burke. This son of The Gurkha improved to beat Waiting All Night at Catterick last month. While that bare form might not be up to much he did it in good style. He was down the field at York but that was obviously a fiercely competitive race won by the unbeaten Streets Of Gold. He was only actually six and a half lengths back and that wasn’t a bad effort at all given he was sent off at 100/1. The drop back into novice company should see him get his head back in front. Camacho colt Tomahawk King was beaten three lengths on debut and then looked a little one paced here last time. He is unexposed though so if he improves looks the danger. Havana Grey filly Topo Chico was left poorly placed last time and is likely better than that so is also respected.
