The money came for Dubawi colt RAJASTHAN on debut at Yarmouth but he just ran a bit green when asked to stretch and didn’t have a great deal of daylight. Once he did see a clear passage he ran on quite well in the closing stages and is expected to be a lot sharper now. He steps up to a mile for the first time and I think he’ll take a bit of beating here under Frankie Dettori. He doesn’t hold any fancy entries but I get the feeling he could be a nice prospect in the making. Mudskipper was pretty clueless on debut at Sandown and still showed signs of inexperience when second to High Honour at Goodwood. He has more to come and may well be the danger. Promoter sets the standard having won at Chepstow last time but this won’t be easy under a penalty. Roaring Lion colt Scintillante looks the most interesting of the debutants.

Things didn’t really go to plan for DOOM at Newcastle last time but it was still a very good run only missing narrowly. She just hit a bit of a flat spot and didn’t really have anything to race against when asked to pick up. The penny seemed to drop late and she ran on well at the finish but the two in front were just going that pace quicker to hold on. She is sure to keep progressing and if she does improve this looks a good opportunity for her. Obviously there are a few unknowns including main market rival Winter’s Love who makes her debut but I think she sets a pretty decent standard and will be tough to beat. The latter is well bred but might do better for the run. Frankel filly Soul Sister is also making her first start here and the yard had a couple of fillies win first time up at Yarmouth earlier in the week so worth monitoring in the betting.
