SIR WINSTON might just have needed his return to action at Leicester at the start of the month, despite being a warm order on the day. Trois Vallees may benefit from a pair of cheekpieces having missed the break when over C&D last month, while a drop back in trip could see Under The Twilight enter calculations.

MAHALIK wasn't at all disgraced in a valuable sales contest behind the hugely likeable Streets Of Gold at York earlier in the month and the drop back into novice company gives him the ideal opportunity to gain a second career victory. Crown Bridges may improve for being gelded and for the application of a visor, while others to note include Inny Lad and Pearl Lounge.

This can go the way of SOL CAYO, who has shown enough in recent starts to suggest that he can get off the mark here on his nursery debut. The step up in trip is another positive and he can see off the likes of Tabaretta, who arrives with a similar profile, and Double O, who did it well at Southwell earlier in the month. Dartman and Just Bring It are others capable of taking a step forward.

COOL PARTY may have a 7lb penalty to overcome for a taking success at Epsom in August, but this doesn't look like the strongest of contests and the son of Postponed can strike again. Wan'em looked to be out of his depth in a sales race at York last time out and he is better judged on his form previous to that. Dragonball Prince and Royal Athena cannot be ruled out either.

PRINCESS SHABNAM is a class act here, having won a competitive Listed race at Pontefract on her penultimate start. Adam Farragher's 5lb claim is a big plus and the fact she is proven on the all-weather can see her fend off Spangled Mac, who looks like her chief threat on form. Strong Power has been knocking on the door of late and must enter the reckoning, along with Dubai Station and Hierarchy.

Rock Girl has been consistent so far and is high on the list for recommendation, while Kitbag has ability and shouldn't be underestimated now back on the all-weather. However, preference is for OVERNIGHT OATS, who recovered well from a shaky start to finish a close second over C&D 19 days ago. The gelding has already faced sterner tests than this and top weight might not be an insurmountable barrier in this company.

HOLOCENE returned from a short break with an accomplished performance to win over an extended mile here last week and a 6lb penalty might not be enough to stop her going in again. She responded very kindly to the fitting of cheekpieces that day and, with the headgear retained, the daughter of Ulysses might have more to come. Lucky San Jore made a winning start for Marco Botti over C&D in August and, from just a 3lb higher mark, he needs to be taken seriously once more. Carey Street is versatile and also merits consideration.
