GYTO's Saturday Notebook Double pays 16/1.
13:30 Cheltenham
I’m looking forward to seeing SAINT PALAIS back out at Cheltenham on Saturday albeit over hurdles. This horse was really progressive last season winning 4 from 5 over fences. With another summer on his back he could be open to plenty of improvement and connections have opted to revert to timber for his reappearance. This should be run at a good gallop and with easing conditions in favour he has a lot going for him. Rexem has taken well to hurdling winning at Downpatrick and then following up at Killarney. He has more to come but this does have strength in depth so he will find it tougher. Shearer impressed when the money was down at Worcester earlier this month and is still relatively lightly raced so could also put up some resistance. The Moon Sea’s Me made a winning debut under Rules but will need to improve on that bare form.
13:50 Newbury
The well bred STRIKING STAR moved like a promising horse on debut before coming through to win convincingly at Sandown. He just ran about a bit when first asked to pick up and was briefly caught in a bit of a pocket before angling out and quickening up. I thought he did that with plenty up his sleeve and it’s no surprise to see him thrown in at the deep end so soon. The harder they go here the better for him as he looks to have a high cruising speed and a nice change of gear. He will need to improve but looks sure to and this Dubawi colt could be one to keep on the right side of today and going forward. Grey’s Monument impressed bounding clear at York and he has to be respected on that given the time he clocked as well. Lope De Vega colt Lord Of Biscay made a winning debut at Yarmouth and that race has been well advertised since as well.
