LIMETREE BOY (best price 15/2) was well below form at Exeter when last spotted but he’s not one to give up on, especially with the form of his previous win and when third on debut to Hillcrest working out really well. He should easily advance his form now tackling the bigger obstacles and his opening mark of 114 is lenient to say the least on the balance of the horses he’s faced in previous assignments, while his trsiner is in decent form of late too. Each-way chance.

TEMPLEHILLS (best price 7/2) likes it here and this former C&D winner posted another good effort here when second to Shetland Bus heee three weeks ago, who I tipped that day. This veteran tends to belt a fence or two but is now five pounds below his last winning mark and gets on well with Jack Savage, so in the hope he can put in an error-free round of jumping, this course specialist should go close to adding a third win at this course to his CV.

PEARLY ISLAND (best price 4/1) has ran very well to make the frame the last two times and has had a few subsequent winners in behind in both of those events, so the form has a fair bit of substance. His only previous attempt at this trip resulted with a sixth of 16 at Doncaster but that race was littered with some really good horses such as City Chief and Wonderwall, and this race is much calmer waters. Fame And Concrete is the obvious danger but the former would only need to improve in the jumping department to go close here. He’s got a solid chance.

If the stable switch can somehow revive MOONLIGHTER (best price 11/4), he should be able to outclass these if back to anything near his best on stable debut for the in-form Kim Bailey team. He seemingly lost his way last term but the nine-year-old is now twenty pounds below his last winning mark and even went close to winning the Grade Two Haldon Gold Cup on his return two years ago when touched off by Greaneteen. If David Bass can get a tune out of him under an attacking ride, he could be too hard to catch at a course that often favours those to with the pace.
