The unbeaten IRON BRIDGE accounted for a useful rival by 22 lengths when last seen over hurdles at Worcester in April. That performance suggests that an opening mark of 125 may vastly underestimate him on his chasing debut. Donny Boy has struggled in Grade 2 hurdles on his last couple of starts but he should not be discounted down in grade on his fencing bow. Viva Lavilla could improve for a wind operation over the summer, while Harper's Brook and Hasty Brook are others to note.

WOR VERGE bounced back to form when scoring over C&D a couple of weeks ago and a reproduction of that effort may well be good enough to win this event, despite a 5lb rise. Where's Hector was consistent in novice/maiden hurdles last season and has to be of some interest on his handicap bow, while similar comments apply to Happy Du Mesnil.

Corach Rambler is much respected here but he'll surely need further to be seen to best effect, so preference is for the Grade 1 winner MILLERS BANK. Alex Hales' eight-year-old was fancied for last week's Old Roan Chase at Aintree, but got no further than the first fence there. However, with a clear round of jumping today, he could prove tough to beat. Beauport showed plenty of ability over hurdles last year and if he jumps with fluency on his chase debut, he might go close.

GOOD RISK AT ALL found the Grade 1 Mersey Novices' Hurdle at Aintree a bit too competitive when last seen in April but, back at a more realistic level, Sam Thomas' gelding should be able to get back on track today. Ailie Rose's mark looks fair on some of her best form, so she's one to keep a close eye on, while it wouldn't be a huge shock if Ben Haslam could get a tune out of Aramax. He has joined the Middleham handler from Gordon Elliott.

The key to this contest could be the rematch between Houston Texas (first) and MOUNT MELLERAY (second) from their clash over C&D in February. It is the latter who is preferred this time around, courtesy of a 2lb pull at the weights, having lost out by a short-head on that occasion. A winner of two of his four starts over fences, Niceandeasy must be considered, along with Secret Reprieve, who has run just twice since winning the Welsh Grand National in January 2021.

BENNY SILVER looked a winner in waiting when going down narrowly on debut at Ffos Las and, with improvement expected, he can get off the mark. Similar comments apply to Fuji Rocks, who shaped with promise at Perth last month, while Perculator emerged with plenty of credit when runner-up at Hexham. Blue Ridge Hill is another to note for in-form connections.
