Friday Racing Tips from Steve Ryder

The Gavin Cromwell trained TYRE KICKER (best priced at 13/2) won on his handicap debut last time and he should prove hard to beat on his reappearance off an 8lb higher mark. The five-year-old had previously shown very little in maiden hurdles when beaten 88, 118, 52 and 110 lengths when sent off 50/1, 200/1, 250/1 and 66/1. He was given an opening handicap mark of 88 and was well supported into 17/2 where he showed a good attitude to win at Punchestown by ½ length.

Tyre Kicker now makes his reappearance following 164 days off the track and is fitted with a first time tongue tie but he should be able to resume his progress off a mark of 96 with Keith Donoghue retaining the ride and up to six places on offer. 

This looks a competitive 0110 handicap hurdle but preference goes to the Milton Harris trained PRESENTING YEATS (best priced at 2/1) who has a fitness edge over his main market rivals in this race. The six-year-old has been in consistently good form in 2022 so far with form figures of 343432211 this year and he should once again hold strong claims if coping with the softer ground. 

Presenting Yeats was first past the post at Newton Abbot in August before winning by two lengths at Huntingdon last month off a mark of 102. He followed up last time at Exeter under a 7lb penalty by 2 ¼ lengths and he runs here off only a 1lb higher mark in this race. The soft ground is a slight concern but he is clearly thriving at present and should prove hard to beat.

The UK runners deserve respect in this race but preference goes to LOVE REIGNS (best priced at 7/2) who represents Wesley Ward and Irad Ortiz Jr who have won the last three runnings of the Juvenile Turf Sprint. She made an impressive winning debut over this course and distance by 9 ¾ lengths in April before finishing 4th behind the re-opposing Dramatised in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot. 

Love Reigns bounced made a winning return in the US last time with a comfortable 2 ½ length victory at Saratoga in a listed race and she should prove hard to beat from a good draw in Stall 2. The Platinum Queen has shown plenty of speed on her recent starts but she may end up wide on the bend from Stall 12 and therefore preference goes Love Reigns.
