UK Horse Racing Tips: Dundalk

GREEK FLOWER is progressing with each run and looks the one to beat. The Johnny Feane-trained filly is bred to want further but has shown in four outings that sprinting is her forte. She was unlucky in running when third to Gobi Star over this trip at Down Royal and appeared to find the extra furlong just too far when a creditable third to Mickey The Steel here last month. Aurora Nova has been placed twice in sprint maidens at Down Royal this autumn and finished perhaps fortunately ahead of the selection when they were both placed behind Gobi Star. Pilbara Gold has shown his best form over seven furlongs but does possess plenty of pace, while Andy Oliver sent out a debut juvenile winner at Galway on Monday and now introduces Ha Ha Gloria who is a half-sister to five winners.

EXTENSIO gave the O'Donnell family a day to remember when landing the Ladies Derby at the Curragh in July and again ran well over this trip the following month when beating all bar Arctic Blaze at Tipperary. The five-year-old gelding was probably unsuited by the soft ground last time but still put up a creditable effort at Gowran and hopefully he will handle this surface. Mads Black Eights has won twice this year including at this venue last month and it will be interesting to see how he copes up in trip, while Adamaris will certainly not lack for stamina having won twice over two miles here last winter. The topweight is partnered by Daniel King who can do little wrong at present. Firstman and S'all Good Man are others to consider.

SWEETEST ROSE made a promising debut over this trip in a Curragh conditions race that has worked out well since. The Ger Lyons-trained filly was tried in Listed company at Leopardstown when never involved behind better fancied stablemate Zarinsk and should appreciate this drop to maiden class. Beginnings, out of the top class filly Winter who has already produced a mile winner this year in Only, also made a pleasing start over six furlongs at Naas when fourth to Spirit Gal. That form is red-hot with the winner following up impressively here in a Listed race and the second and third both winning maidens. Warm Heart, Report, Cooler and Anann are all newcomers from leading yards to keep a close eye on.

TANAIYLA came up against a smart sort in Aesop's Fables on debut at Navan this spring and again filled the runner-up spot behind Skip James in a nursery over C&D last month. That run came after a three month's break and the selection may have more scope for improvement. Bataan and Wedding Bouquet both showed some promise on debut in Leopardstown maidens and should progress with riding arrangements suggesting they are preferred to newcomers from the same yard. The latter's stablemate Red Carpet is a sister to Bluegrass who won a mile juvenile maiden last year and was third to Desert Crown in the Dante Stakes at York. Guided is another to note on debut.

The well-bred BERTINELLI is a half-brother to three juvenile winners and made a bright start when beating all bar better fancied stablemate Peking Opera over this trip at Leopardstown last month. The son of Justify can be expected to progress with that experience under his belt. Aidan O'Brien also introduces Gooloogong, a brother to the smart Cayenne Pepper, while Pivotal Revive is another newcomer to note being out of the Listed-winning juvenile Tigrilla. Donbeg Reel belied odds of 150/1 on debut when only weakening inside the final furlong behind Hippodrome over 1m1f at the Curragh last month.

MEHNAH has obviously not been easy to train but hopefully can progress from a belated seasonal debut at Naas last month. The Frankel half-sister to Irish Guineas winner Awtaad won a juvenile maiden at this venue and scored at Listed level over this trip at Killarney last year. The selection was having her first run in 15 months when keeping on well behind the Breeders' Cup-bound Toy at Naas. Juncture won the Listed Patton Stakes over C&D this spring and is now fitted with blinkers after going close a few times since including behind Boundless Ocean in the Group 3 Desmond Stakes at Leopardstown. Stablemate Smile Of Love is on a hat-trick after taking well to this surface last time, while Surrounding has won this race twice in the past and continues to serve connections well winning another Listed race at the Galway Festival this summer. Neptune Rock also carries a penalty for a career best 1m1f Listed win at Listowel last time.

Pierre Lapin, CORDOUAN and Howyoulikethat flashed past the post almost in unison when filling the first three places over C&D last month and there shouldn't be much between the trio again. Pierre Lapin held a career high mark of 110 with Roger Varian but took advantage of a steady drop in the ratings this year to just get up on the line last time. The former John Gosden-trained Cordouan made a winning start for current connections at Laytown and may have the more scope for improvement following such a narrow defeat. Howyoulikethat took a significant hike for winning over this trip at Leopardstown in July but remains very competitive and didn't enjoy the clearest of passages in the aforementioned race here. Freescape has a big weight but ran well in top company at Meydan in the spring.

MISS ABBY JOOLS has taken well to the polytrack and after a slightly unlucky in running third to Darkdeserthighway, opened her account over C&D in a race that has been working out quite well (Tynamite in fifth). She looks the type that can progress further while Zonik is an obvious threat after scoring here last Friday and has also been given a 6lb rise. Ellabella relishes this surface winning three times over C&D last winter and appeared not to handle the track at Bellewstown last time. Destined To Rock has lost ground at the start on a few occasions in four maiden starts but wasn't disgraced behind Only at Leopardstown last time. She could be of interest now in a handicap with a useful apprentice booked.
