LALLYGAG shed his maiden tag over hurdles at the first time of asking when long odds-on over an extended 2m2f here last month and this looks like a good opportunity to follow up that success. Paul Nicholls' charge is likely to have improved for that experience and he appears to be the most likely winner of this contest. King Of Lombardy makes his first start over hurdles and he shaped as if he'd be capable of competing at this level when fourth in a bumper at Newton Abbot, while Viking's Way is another to note.

This is a fiendishly difficult puzzle to solve with plenty of runners arriving here with chances, but slight preference is for WHISKY EXPRESS. Harry Fry's six-year-old was a comfortable winner when shedding her maiden tag over hurdles at Newton Abbot when last seen 224 days ago. Making her handicap bow today, this opening mark of 109 looks workable so a bold bid can be expected. Mulberry Hill and The Height Of Fame arrive here in good form and also warrant respect.

A small but select field for this novices' chase where it's hard to get away from two-time Grade 1-winning hurdler THYME HILL, who is a fascinating runner now making his debut over the larger obstacles. Press Your Luck made a pleasing debut over fences when making all at Chepstow last month, only to blot his copybook when whipping round at the start and losing his rider at Wetherby last week. Flash Collonges was over five lengths behind Press Your Luck at Chepstow, with the former 8lb better off this time around.

MINELLA BUSTER was a most impressive winner on debut over fences at Kempton recently and although he has been raised 9lb for that performance, the manner of his victory suggested there may be plenty more to come from the Emma Lavelle-trained gelding. The biggest threat may come from last year's winner St Erney, who took this on his seasonal reappearance and is 5lb higher this time around. Joe Tizzard has his string in fine order at present and his runner Killer Kane must enter calculations having finished third in Graded company at Aintree in April when last seen.

War Lord is an interesting contender representing a stable in fine form, while Greaneteen also enters calculations.
