LOT OF JOY is a capable Flat handicapper who will be well schooled ahead of this hurdling debut. Winner of the 2021 Swedish St Leger, she ran well in two recent valuable handicaps on the level and while she might prefer a longer distance over jumps, is race-fit and proven on soft ground. Timmy Tuesday showed good ability on point-to-point debut for Andrew Latta, before selling for 125,000 pounds. He went the wrong side of a marker at Ballyarthur, but looked a horse of potential and can trouble the selection. Solitary Man ran well when second on debut at Roscommon (the leader fell at the second-last) but might struggle to win. Bowmore, a half-brother to a Listed Flat winner, was a 105,000-euro Derby Sale purchase last year and while lacking experience, notably debuts at the correct time of year. Mark Walsh rides JP McManus' newcomer Inothewayurthinkin, who is from a family of staying types.

Most of WALK IN THE BRISE's form is on a sound surface, but she ran well on debut on heavy and will be ready for her jumps debut. She is consistent and, at Downpatrick, gave 7lb to the runner-up, who won twice subsequently and is now rated 116 over hurdles. Jenny Flex ran well on bumper debut and in a point-to-point in 2021 and while she debuts for Gordon Elliott following a break, was well held by the selection at Gowran in February. Feddans is a bumper winner who is race-fit and has hurdling experience, while Knockanard Lady won on debut but was well held in a subsequent Grade 2 bumper. Della Casa Lunga has bumper form but faces a tough task on jumps debut. La Malmason is a half-sister to Grade 1-winning hurdler Stage Star, but skips bumpers for now.

GRAND SOIR's best form is on a sound surface but has form on testing ground and is a race-fit C&D winner. Runner-up to a smart horse in a two-mile bumper on testing ground last March, he has since done well over hurdles and can progress further. Point-to-point winner Cool Survivor bumped into some capable types in bumpers last season and won readily at Punchestown recently. He faces a tougher task, but receives 4lb from the selection and is also open to further progression stepping up in distance. Whatsavailable reverts from chasing, having exited twice recently, and while suited by this distance and testing ground, might struggle to win. Four-year-old Western Comandor and maiden hurdle winner Granny Lowrie both step up in distance.

EL BARRA was a Grade A winner at the Punchestown Festival, runs without a penalty and is suited by this distance. His best form is on a sound surface and although he blundered when exiting the Kerry National in September, he previously ran well in the Galway Plate and has winning form on testing ground. Idas Boy won well on chase debut over C&D and while he faces a tougher task, can continue to do well over fences. Lightly-raced eight-year-old Shadow Rider is suited by testing ground and this distance but needs to improve, while Grand Paradis is a C&D winner but also has needs a career best. Panda Boy would prefer a longer distance and makes his reappearance, while Brampton Belle was a Listed novice hurdle winner last season but meets vastly more experienced rivals.

DROMORE LAD won the 2020 renewal and while 2lb out of the handicap, ran well over hurdles recently and has a feather weight under a 7lb claimer. A dour, soft-ground stayer, his runner-up effort to Easy Game at Tramore in July reads quite well, with Notebook finishing third, and he is race-fit. Top-weight Screaming Colours pulled up at Auteuil in May but had previously finished fourth in the Irish National and was a soft-ground winner of the Midlands National. Last year's winner Braeside disappointed on his most recent runs last season but will be ready for today's race. Testing ground could hinder the in-form Recite A Prayer, while Fully Charged has winning form on testing ground but competes from a career-high rating and pulled up at Ballinrobe in May. Captain Kangaroo makes his handicap chase debut but seems ground-versatile and should be suited by this extreme distance. Spades Are Trumps won the Ulster National from 7lb lower, under a 7lb claimer, in March, while Mister Fogpatches has claims on his third in the Thyestes.

HARVEY'S QUAY lacks a run but remains unexposed, being out of a Grade 3-winning mare and having won easily on soft ground at Clonmel in December. He disappointed from his revised rating subsequently and unseated rider in April, but is still nicely handicapped and has already won at this distance. Forrard Away also lacks an outing but is suited by testing ground and this distance, and is rated 2lb lower over hurdles than fences. Clever Currency was in contention when falling in a useful handicap at Punchestown and since ran well in a heavy-ground Flat handicap. Walnut Beach disappointed over three miles at Clonmel recently and drops in distance, while Indie Belle is race-fit but was well held on recent runs and would prefer further. Halsafari is suited by conditions but hasn't won for three years, while Shakeytry is also suited by trip and ground but is long absent. The Truant's form is patchy and is tried in a hood, while banks horse Midnight Maestro was well held in his most recent handicap hurdle.

MOLLYS MANGO ran well in a useful bumper on debut and is race-fit. From her sire's first crop, she is out of a half-sister to high-class jumper More Of That and ran well at Punchestown, with the runner-up and fifth-placed horses both winning subsequently. Mote Park is a half-sister to three winners, two of whom were staying types, and while she represents Willie Mullins, nonetheless meets capable horses with experience. Stormalong wasn't unsupported when winning at 33/1 in a tongue-tie on debut over C&D in May and while the runner-up won subsequently, she runs on testing ground today and gives away a penalty. Grace Shelby is race-fit but needs to improve, while Shoe String has shown little since her debut win and was well beaten on reappearance.
