Planned Paradise definitely has to be respected here dropping back in trip but I still prefer the chances of HARRY DU BERLAIS following an eye-catching second on chase debut at Bangor when last seen. That was already better than anything he had previously achieved over hurdles and I thought there was a fair bit of encouragement to take from it. He still looked quite green and even put air between himself and the last before staying on well. I just think inexperience cost him the win against a game horse in Bob’s Bar but with that under his belt now and given time since we will likely see another improved performance. Planned Paradise would be the most likely danger but Fawsley Spirit is also worth mentioning on return back over fences.

15:55 Newcastle

After just a handful of runs over hurdles there should be more to come from RAE DES CHAMPS and I think she is worth chancing on reappearance at Newcastle on Thursday. She has always shaped as a stayer so moving up in trip here should prove ideal and I expect her to be a fair bit better than her current mark of 108. She ran well in a Class 2 when last seen at Kelso so back down to a Class 4 here she is expected to prove too strong. Spantik has fitness on side having chased home Sonning over hurdles at Sedgefield before finishing sixth on the Flat at Newcastle. He is 4lb higher than that penultimate run but should still give a good account. Headscarf Lil is a past C&D winner and she should strip fitter from her reappearance run at Carlisle.
