UK Horse Racing Tips: Taunton

TRUE ROMANCE may have disappointed on his latest appearance over hurdles at Sedgefield, but the form of his previous efforts at Worcester and Huntingdon has worked out well and he emerges as the best treated horse in this contest on official figures. Iron Heart is a leading player based on the pick of his form, while Vanderbilt may still be a maiden after 60 starts in all codes but ran well behind a subsequent winner at Exeter.

The Kim Bailey stable is in excellent form and it is difficult to look past I SPY A DIVA following an impressive success at Ludlow last month. Wind surgery has clearly made a difference to the daughter of Telescope and he should have too much for Urban Soldier, who is entitled to improve on a listless bumper debut here in March. Dannystory and Ooh Betty look set to battle it out for minor honours.

ILE DE JERSEY didn't quite live up to expectations after a promising UK debut victory at Ludlow in February, and it could be that fences reignite the latent ability of this filly as the Nicky Henderson stable begins to click into gear. Mascat has performed with credit on his last couple of starts and must enter calculations once more, along with Mordred, who has won two of his last three.

This is a big drop in class for RUBAUD, who has undergone wind surgery since he was pitched into the Adonis at Kempton in February. Paul Nicholls obviously holds the French-bred gelding in high regard and this looks to be a good starting block for his new campaign. Neil Mulholland has campaigned Nina's Field on the Flat in Jersey over the last couple of seasons but she is an interesting contender. Dancing Harry has shown ability over hurdles and he completes the shortlist.

BOAGRIUS has made steady progress since he came back from wind surgery in the summer and may be capable of shrugging off top weight in this company. He's coped well with these fences in the past and given he has also won from much higher marks before now, his burden isn't insurmountable. Oceans Red finished behind the selection when they met at Worcester in August so it's highly possible that Bebraveforglory, who was all out to win at Stratford, will be a bigger threat if his stamina holds out over slightly longer trip.

Molliana, who is just 3lb higher than when winning here 12 months ago, is very tempting given that she's struck three times over hurdles in Jersey since May and ran with credit in defeat at Hereford last month. However, preference is for MIDNIGHT CALLISTO, who is a tad less exposed in this discipline and looks ready for another try over this sort of trip. She tends to do best when racing on the front end and could be very difficult to overhaul if allowed to dominate. Choral Work is the pick of the rest.
