This could turn out to be a really informative race and I’m looking forward to seeing HERCULE DU SEUIL for Willie Mullins. He looked very immature when down the field on hurdles debut at Leopardstown but was a completely different proposition following a break when winning at Tipperary by 16 lengths last month. He made all on that occasion and never looked like getting beat as the money for him beforehand suggested. He can keep improving for a while yet and is expected to go close here. Three Card Brag is 2-2 having won a bumper at Wexford and then followed up impressively on hurdles debut at Galway. He looks a nice prospect too so rates the main danger. Imagine is also unbeaten by only scored by a head on hurdles debut and will need more here.

With both Wetanwindy and Enduring Love now out this looks a good opportunity on paper for CALVINIST to get back on track. I’m surprised it has taken this long for him to go over fences as he is quite a leggy type and I could see this discipline suiting him. He is with Venetia Williams now and he could be the one to beat here. He has won fresh before and it wouldn’t be massively surprising to see him try and make all here with no obvious pace on. Ballaquane is lightly raced so could improve but he certainly needs to as he didn’t pull down any trees over hurdles and was well held when last seen at Worcester. Aughnacurra King was in winning form when last seen by that was over 2 years ago now and even off a fair mark he will likely need this.
